Why is the 3rd song of an album most likely the best song

The first few songs are often the best because of front loading. The best track is usually in the first five, but this can tend to get pushed back a little too cause of intro tracks.

Because the first track is some sort of intro, the second song is probably slower to contrast with the first song, and then you have the third song which is probably the lead single.
