anything similar to this? only thing that comes to mind is sonic youth guitar riffs
Check out Wire if you haven't. Nothing really scratches the same itch that Wipers does though. Greg Sage is a god.

yeah that album is great but it is kinda more aggressive than wipers

Hot Snakes
Wipers are their biggest influence.
Suicide Invoice is the album that sounds most like the Wipers. P4k gave it an 8.8.

Audit In Progress, is stronger but less Wipers-like. Spin gave it 5 out of 5.

I actually like Hot Snakes more than Wipers. Wipers do have a few 10/10s for sure. But 95% of Hot Snakes tracks are at least good/re-listenable.

thank you man

No problem.
Hot Snakes are the later, less complex, punker version of Drive Like Jehu which is a /mu/core band.
P4k gave their Yank Crime album a 9.0

Which Wipers album is the best?
I've listened to Youth of America and started on Is This Real? but never finished

I like ITR best, the production is the clearest and the songs are very short and immediate in contrast to YoA's lumbering around. They're just really tightly written, passionate pop tunes that don't overstay their welcome.
Over the Edge is sort of a midway between those two styles without being as good as either of them. Still a good album though.

Yeah, I just finished ITR and I fucking loved it. Definitely liked it a lot better than Youth of America. Maybe that one'll grow on me more as time passes though.
The dude from Cloud Nothings cited them as a big influence once and I definitely understand that a lot more after this one.

Have you heard Greg Sage's solo material? Straight Ahead is sort of like a mellower Neil Young -ish Wipers, pretty cool.

any others like wipers and hot snakes?
