Does Spain have good pop music or do they just import it all? What about other genres? What's your favorite Spanish song from Spain?

Muchos merci, guapo

Absolutely awful Spanish music here, don't listen to this guy.

>>72083087
Listen to this guy instead.

Spanish pop is pretty bad but there are some nice indie pop bands. I like Manos de Topo but a lot of people seem to hate them:

(I don't know if you know Spanish but their lyrics are all pretty fun)

I'm learning Spanish, but when I look for Spanish music I just find south American stuff for some reason (I'm moving to Spain). You get bonus points for fun lyrics because I will look them up and try to understand them.

You can also try El Columpio Asesino:

And for pop, these guys were pretty fun:

Y ESE TORO ENAMORADO DE LA LUNA
They must be spanish, idk

Spanish people typically make awful music, so the majority of good Spanish-language music will come from South America (Argentina in particular). That said if you specificallly want music from Spain there's still a decent handful of artists:

- Joan Manuel Serrat (singer-songwriter)
- Triángulo de Amor Bizzaro (noise pop/shoegaze/indie rock)
- Triana (Andalusian rock)
- Veneno (Andalusian rock)
- Los Planetas (noise pop/indie rock)
- Family (indie pop/synthpop)
- La Polla Records (punk)
- Eskorbuto (punk)
- Nudozurdo
- Lisabö (BASQUE post-hardcore)
Probably forgetting a few but this is mostly good stuff.

That said, if you're learning Spanish why restrict yourself to only music from Spain? The language isn't much different in South America and there's a lot more good music.

I also have to warn you that Spanish teenagers/young adults mostly listen to reggaeton and trap so you'd better get acquainted with this stuff:

Pretty much this. The only big difference between Spanish from Spain and Spanish from Latin American is that they make the distinction between S and C and we just cluster them. There are some big differences in conjugation between Spanish from Argentina and Uruguay compared to the Spanish from Spain but you won't catch that in songs.
The rest is just differences in accent: the same differences you would get from English from the UK or English from the US.

Big props for posting Lisabö. Totally recommended for you, OP even though they speak in Basque. They're highly underrated.

All good bands. Also:
- El niño gusano (Indie pop, Twee, psychedelic)

- La buena vida (chamber pop, sadcore)

- Juventud Juché (Art-punk, noise rock)
https://juventudjuche.bandcamp.com/track/defensa
- Alaska y Dinarama (pop rock, new wave, very popular)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSmhZ3umh0Q
- Nacho Vegas (Folck Rock, lyricist, GOAT lyrics)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFJpfYtOCtw
- Enrique Morente & Lagartija Nick (Flamenco nuevo, Experimental rock)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u--jfPFRoic
- Perro (Indie rock, Noise pop)

There are some differences but mostly because I want to get used to Spanish accents and I don't want my own accent to become a weird Dutch South American one. Thirdly it would be cool to know some bands to see when I'm there.

>>72083738
It's all English but we can easily understand people from California and New York because we are used to hearing them on tv, whereas people from New Zealand talk gibberish.
>>
>>72084006
I didn't know most of these bands, thanks for sharing anon.

>>72084064
I'd think you're more likely to pick up accents from things like watching Spanish films & TV than listening to Spanish music. That said it's up to you, just make sure not to neglect South American music forever. There's a lot of great stuff coming from there.
Also, New Zealanders talk gibberish? Really?
