Well, first we have to get into some semantics.

If by "normal" you mean "western music", then yes there actually is a ton of that. Japan has an amazing indie-rock scene, for example.
If by "normal" you mean music without "gimmicks" (what the fuck does that even mean, genres are literally categorized according to their gimmicks), then also yes, there's tons of that. But like everything else, whatever or whoever screams the loudest is the one that gets heard, and the one who makes a lasting impression.
