It's pretty clear he has some slight mental problems, anger management, etc etc. Acceptance of these issues so you can seek the right way of dealing with them is a serious problem with adolescents, and especially in minority communities. I really hope this guy doesn't blow up because then the role model for such people demonstrates that lashing out is the cool hardcore way of handling your deep-seeded issues.

Also, since I know someone will say it, it is true that role models in hip hop haven't always been great for minority youths. However recently there have been some much better ones. Drake has sensitive music, Chance the Rapper is all about spirituality, Kendrick is very anti violence, even guys like Future and Lil Yachty etc aren't that bad. So I guess hip hop was due for an edgy villain but still not good.

I'm of the same generation (20 yo)- I don't know if it says much, teens have always wanted to be shocking and rebellious by listening to things that get their pent up violent tendencies out and make them seem edgy. Reaction to this guy is the same as it was with heavy metal, then Marilyn Manson and Eminem, then Tyler: the kids love it because it's something older people can't get their heads around.
It's always something new, usually violent thematically and with an element of shock value- another artist'll come around in another 6-10 years that'll get the same reaction and cult following, i guarantee.

I only kind of like his stuff, but I think I like it for the same reason I like noise rock/ noisy punk and actual noise music- the kind that's set to holocaust footage and has the artists cutting themselves onstage, the violent, dangerous edge. It fills the same shoes that metalcore/screamo and nu metal did a couple years and a decade back.
It's the same angry, hate the world, fuck people, angsty misunderstood alienated teenager themes that come up.
Even uses alot of the same imagry as the late 00's screamo scene with the naruto/bleach amv's.
And that's one of the reasons I dont think it's exciting at all. The fans that he has are probably to young to remember the screamo scene and late 90's nu metal is as distant to them as hair metal was in the early to mid 00's for me. I've had my share of angsty teenagers screaming in my ear.
