Go and listen to some generic spanish pop music if you want to understand the basics.
Argentinian musicians have some reaaallly cryptic pretentious lyrics sometimes.

Your best option could be grabbing some fucking dictionary or trying to listen to some actual conversations or interviews of spanish speaking people.

Argentinian/uruguayan artists are pretty good but the accent will fuck you up, maybe old <60s tango is okay, although I guess you're looking for more popular music.
If you're european just listen to spanish artists (serrat, sabina), if you're american listen to mexicans (cafe tacuba) as those will be closer to the spanish you'll listen to
