Asking the fellow bassfags, there is a Warwick Corvette Standard here locally, still made in Germany (2008) for "only" 500€. Seems like the made in Germany Warwicks tend to go for 800-900 usually, should I?

>>72032258
It comes with velcro and ties, I've not fastened everything down yet though. There's another MIDI device to go on the board and that's arriving next week. Four leads per pedal because it's stereo, I'll be using it on my synths as well as the guitar amp.

Look at my fucking HUGE pedalboard tour case, there's room for two lesbian sex midgets in there

I resisted having my main Strat dressed for years. Eventtually it got unplayable, the frets were just non-existent, not even enough to dress. Had the local luthier guy put stainless steel in, absolutely loved the way it felt, took another 5 or 6 to him for the same treatment.

Anyways, I'm mainly a classical player, I do alot of finger picking and I'm wondering what are some price ranges and brands of higher quality nylon or steel string acoustic guitars. Is 1200 going to get me a quality acoustic for finger picking?

>>
>>72037540
>does the same apply to epiphone lespaul standartds and why

Pretty much, if you change the pickups and give it a proper setup it'll sound 90% as good as a real Gibson. But, there are also a ton of cheaper options for real Gibson Les Pauls so it might not be worth the trouble of upgrading. Gibson doesn't make any budget hollowbodies.

>>
>all mainstream guitar rock from the past 10 years has just been mostly power chords
>getting big is all about right place right time
why couldn't I have been born like 10 years earlier? Could've gotten in on the pop punk scene
>>
>>72037614
The issue with picking epiphone instead of Gibson is that Gibson owns epiphone. Epiphone guitars are made to not compete too strongly against Gibson.

You are far better off going with one of the many, many, competing companies that are actually trying to make a guitar that can stand up to Gibson. There's lots of relatively cheap guitars that keep up and often beat out Gibson. You might not want to do your research here though, because implying anything cheap can be good is sacrilegious here.
>>
>>72037712

>>72037836
Well, there's plenty of single cutaway p90 hollow bodies, what features do you like about the ES? If what you really like is that specific, even an epiphone seems like a compromise.

Places aren't going to list their guitars by Gibson models, but there's lots of guitars that look like that.
>>
>>72037982
>Not slicing the frenulum of your cock with the low e string so blood seeps into the guitar so your mind can resonate with the music telepathically
kek
>>
>>72037712
It depends on the factory, I don't think Gibson sets out to purposely make their guitars an inferior product. The hollowbodies that came from the Peerless factory are great, honestly even better quality control than gibson, the only weak point is the electronics.

Peerless became their own company (now Fibonacci) selling the same guitars they made for Epiphone at a higher price.

I like how it looks, and how the bridge pickup sounds, but it's got quite a few problems. Flat, small frets, dual truss rod, underpowered neck pickup, bridge that breaks strings, flimsy muting system, no hum cancelling middle position, and output drops when bending.

It could be improved a lot but Rickenbacker is dead set on the traditionalist market and they won't let anyone else get away with similar guitars.

Anyways, I actually really love Rickenbackers, which is the only reason I ever found out about the issues they have. But I wouldn't get one.

Good shit. Nice to see someone else who's into this kind of stuff in one of these threads.
>>
>be me
>be mediocre at guitar
>no knowledge of theory or good songwriting
>get inspired to start a band/make music
>realize it's a stupid dream and give up on trying to get good
>listen to a good song
>get inspired all over again

Anyone else deal with this shit?

Yeah you're fucked. Jazz band is for fags anyways, so don't worry. All the jazz band kids I knew in high school are in shitty cover bands while I'm actually playing with internationally known jazz musicians (playing jazz-ish music). The modern jazz scene is weird, most of the people I know either come from schools that encouraged contemporary improvisation (Oberlin and New England Conservatory for example) or they never went to school for music at all.

The band kids might make fun of your inexperience but don't let that get you down. They will most likely end up working in Guitar Center for commission.

A dual truss rod requires clamping the neck to adjust. This means that frequent adjustments for those who want very low action, or just those who know where they want the neck relief to be at, are not practical. It does prevent neck warp, a problem with earlier single truss rod models, but not a common problem with other sturdier basses.

I kinda hate to flame rics but hey, someone's gotta do it.

Hey /gg/, if I take a course in Classical guitar or Mexican guitar, would it be as useful as one that specializes in Acoustic/Electric?

I have been casually practicing but now want to get serious, and my college is offering some classical uitar lessons, I tried to take it before but I dropped out for various reasons.

Is it worth it beyond just teaching music theory?

Literally just learn to play songs by ear and get a basic understanding of music theory along with consistent playing but classes don't hurt it's ultimately up to you
>>
>>72040725
I guess you want to know how it'll transfer over from classical to folk guitar. Honestly, the music and fretboard will be what transfers over, but as far as technique goes, the styles are pretty different. You will gain the coordination, of course.

Better to try than not. Any kind of embarrassment or initial struggle is worth it compared to just doing nothing and being left with what ifs later on. If you're like me, you're going to look back at nearly everything in your past and find something to cringe about, might as well make it something productive.

I've done many gigs where I felt I was in over my head, some more successfully than others, but looking back, I don't regret any of them, and they all helped me develop (high school jazz band being one). And all that was after years of saying no to things that I wish I had taken the risk on.

+ it's the most interesting music program my shitty school has. im eventually planning on making my own stuff and lack real direction in regards to what all i should be doing while im learning everything so i'm hoping this'll help me with that and some other stuff.

this is a genuinely good observation and i will actually think about it in the future, thanks anon

i joined a college jazz band with little to no knowledge of jazz and it was a great experience. i met better jazz players than me who taught me new chords and scales, i met new people in general, i felt more comfortable performing in front of groups.
