What does /mu/ think of BABYMETAL? I recently discovered them

They sound more pop than metal, plus the girls aren't below the age of 15, what gives?

years ago my cousin and i thought they were a funny viral video kinda thing but they really blew up and seriously triggered some metalheads and now tour with rhcp and shit. Like id understand if it were funnier or if the music was better but neither the novelty or music really deserves the attention imo

Their first album is the best example of 'trance metal' I've heard. Their second album is mostly meh but that song that incorporates breakbeats is fun.

I agree. I loved the first album. they rushed to get the second one out and that fucked them over. it's just a nu-metal album. the only decent tracks on there are the 2 "black Babymetal"ones.

Have any established metal bands done any Babbymetal covers?
I wanna hear Incantation or Nile or whoever do a cover of that anti-bullying song.

First album was pretty interesting. It did manage to strike a balance between idol pop music and various interpretations of metal genres.

Second album was completely watered down radio fodder. It now had all the worst aspects of pop music and the metal half of their sound wasn't very metal at all.

They're just a gimmick. The only people who listen to Babymetal are plebs who listen to Five Finger Death Punch and think the mass media oppresses metalheads
