I had a similar mentality in regards to ambient music. And when I've taken the time to actually listen to some ambient albums, especially Eno's albums, the music was so beautiful I almost cried. Talk Talk's music and ambient music are comparable, because both have a minimalistic approach. I'm not the biggest fan of Talk Talk, possibly because I've listened to those two albums just once, but out of respect for the people who almost singlehandedly created a genre of music, I'd recommend making it through both albums.
