ITT: post a pleb album, get its patrician equivalent
Pic related, I'd love to hear something that's like pic related but more daring (though still a bit accessible since I'm not super into bleeps)
idk

This album is pretty revolutionary for EDM
>>71954371
Jamie xx is pretty pleb generally but he does have a few good tracks that get a little more brave. His remixes of Four Tet - Lion and Radiohead - Bloom are good, as well as Sleep Sound.
>>71954439
Magical Mystery Tour
>>71954371
In colour is actually very good but I guess this is the better unpopular album thats house/dance influenced
>>71954371
Someone mentioned Four Tet, but I really don't know why he doesn't get talked about more often here. All is stuff is a solid 8 or higher for me. Pic related is 9.
>>71954371
Your average normie doesn't care about this album.
I don;t get why /mu/ dislikes this album so much
>>71954553
this, that album is great, I think its cause it gets associated with urban outfitters/crosley stuff, doesnt detract from the fact that its good
>>71954553
Symbolic of /mu/s rockism, ignorance and p4k cocksucking.
>>71954597
pitchfork liked it though
>>71954526
anything by mariah carey
>>71955618
Exactly
Twenty-One Pilots- Vessel
>>71954371
In Colour is either the most patrician pleb-tier electronic album, or the most pleb-tier patrician electronic album.
It's such an enigma. Sleep Sound and Girl are fucking incredible when you're high, though.
>>71956381
Why cant we just accept that is good, p4k was honestly kind of right with their review
>>71954371
>>71956396
Yeah, I said what I said being someone who tends to agree with pitchfork when it comes to electronic stuff.
Their circle-jerking over Shaking The Habitual and Settle was 100% justified. We'll still be talking about both of those albums twenty years from now.
>>71956468
>We'll still be talking about both of those albums twenty years from now.
Exactly what the fuck was so great about Settle? It wasn't innovative in the slightest.
>>71956451
Feild recordings of a dump site.
>>71956488
It's in the same category as Dig Your Own Hole, Play, You've Come A Long Way Baby and Rooty.
While it's far from groundbreaking, it's a near-perfect specimen of what and where electronic music was at the time that it was released. A flawless, incredibly well executed example of the zeitgeist of the time that produced it.

Generic garage/house revival?
>>71955915
MBDTF
>>71956593
not enough fat beats and cute girls singing for you?
>>71956625
There's nothing revival about this album at all. It set the trend for electronic music for the next 5 years.
>>71954541
Average normie don't care about albums generally
>>71956700
This guy gets it, and kek is his friend.
Also, listen to White Noise, Voices, or Help Me Lose My Mind and tell me with a straight face that they aren't some of the best dance singles of the past decade.
>>71956700
It's well produced but album but there's nothing original or particularly interesting about it.
>>71956681
Television-marquee moon
>>71956847
really the most apt answer you could come up with
>>71956812
Yes there is idiot
see:
>>71956785
This album is a landmark for EDM.
>>71956970
I agree completely
But I am also biased because I saw disclosure perform it in concert about a week or two before the album came out
In Paris
On vacation
Was fucking amazing
>>71956956
Yeah the strokes are completely derivative of television. They're alright though
Settle is probably the most original dance music album since Discovery
>>71956396
because it's boring and watered down. Of course p4k would give it a glowing review, they're a business that runs a music festival. Imagine the amount of people in their late teens & early 20's that now want jamie xx's brand of rave flecked pop music -- at the price of a p4k music festival ticket.
I require more songs like Altogether and Melon Yellow. I've checked all the shoegaze flowcharts but I can't really find anything that scratches the same itch as those two songs.
>>71957759
those songs are more dream pop than showgaze try Cocteau twins
>>71957965
Which album should I start with? I listened to Heaven Or Las Vegas a while back, but it was too upbeat for me. I'm looking for something more mellow, laid-back and slow-tempo.
>>71957759
Ceres & Calypso - Candy Claws
the album with the black and white palm tree i forget the name - sunny day in glasglow
both a little more electronic but soulvaki and those two are my 3 favorite dream pop albums
>>71957759
no love for soulvaki space station? :(
>>71958180
also the name u're looking for is sea when absent.
>>71958317
I love the whole album, I'm just looking for something with that one specific sound, I guess
>>71957965
blue bell knoll is probably their best
>>71956593
Kek, real patrician
>>71954526
Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Mary J Blidge
>>71956707
this
>disclosure is good and important
>>71958980
>implying
>>71959057
why dont you go listen to radiohead or something
>>71958168
