Did this song create the Slint style of post-rock (post-hardcore influence, use of empty spaces) before Slint did? It came out in 1988, even before Spirit of Eden. Discuss.
Tweez was recorded in 87

But Tweez is math rock, not post-rock.
What specific songs are you comparing?

Tweez is not the style he's describing.

This came out in 1986 and it's Slinty as fuck except for the drum machine. It's not very surprising if you know the background of these bands, Slint's first album was heavily influenced by Big Black and Albini. Tweez has a lot of similarities with Spiderland and Steve worked on it. The recording engineer who did Atomizer was also the guy who worked on Spiderland. I'm sure it goes a lot deeper but you get the picture i.e. it's no coincidence.

That's not what I'm finding.

Almost off topic but i've always found this song very spiderland-ish

Fuck, that track is so great.

It does, yeah.

Brian Paulson is listed as recording engineer and producer for both. Same goes for Iain Burgess. The latter being a huge influence for Albini's recording engineer career and appears to have worked on earlier Big Black records as well.
