>'Parents were against rock and roll before the beatles came out. They were trying to stamp out rock and roll since it started. "Why do you think that is, what are they afriad of?" I always thought it was because it came from black music. And the words had a lot of double entendre, in the early days. And it was sort of, ya know, the white kids, our white kids, our white nice WASPs are gonna go crazy with all this moving their bodies. Ya know the music got to your body. And the Beatles just carried it a bit further, made it a little more white, more than Elvis did, because we're english, ya know.'

He means the beatles made "black music" more popular and accessible then elvis. And that the older generation didn't like it because white kids were into black music/culture.

What did he mean by this?

The same thing as the 1920s when they said that damned nigger jazz was corrupting America's youth.
Christgau wrote about this in one of his columns. He said that since Europeans did not have the cultural connection to the roots music that rock-and-roll originated from, they naturally came up with music that was whiter and more pop-centered.

Ain't it funny how it happens? History always seems to repeat itself.

Did you just assume my race? I'm a transracial person, you transracist!
It's not really true that the Beatles made it more white. I think Pat Boone made pop rock as white as possible. The Beatles just made really good pop rock for it's time.
