opinions on the new gorillaz songs
as a long-time fan of these lovable characters of fiction, i can safely say that the new songs are decent but overexposed. Plus hallelujah money was shit lyrics, good instrumental imo. post your opinions on this matter
Too bad that it's yet another political album. Seeing to many of those lately. Deteriorates my listening experience. Otherwise, cautiously enthousiastic for the album to drop.

exactly my view on this thing. got to love the nostalgic artwork and animation though

I'm really hoping it wont get too political, I can handle a few "ayo white mayne keepin' me down"'s, like on Ascension, but if it gets too political it'll be ruined in my opinion.
In an interview with BBC Radio 1, Damon Albarn stated that the theme of the album would be something along the lines of "The world experiencing an event that changes everything, on a world-wide scale". He also said that it was specifically NOT about the 2016 election. So honestly, I still have a little hope that it wont be a huge ear-blowjob to a certain group that holds certain political opinions, whoever that may be.

they're all good, except Hallelujah Money

I mean it's clear from the artwork in the vids and the hook of Ascension that the theme is this kind of apocalyptic natural event happening and not le cheeto man so fingers crossed.
Hallelujah Money is dope yall are just butthurt trumpers
They've grown on me from abject disappointments to sheer mediocrity. Not really too optimistic about this thing.

It's alright, I'm not crazy about it though. I don't get all the hate behind it honestly, although the spongebob sample at the end is kind of weird.
Saturnz Barz really grew on me. Rest are ok. Hope they don't go full-retard with the politics

Yeah same, if only I could understand what the pirate on the track is saying.

But the other albums were political as well. Fire coming out of the monkey's head is a political song.

Was the S/T political? I can't help but feel like Damon was putting something silly and eclectic out there only for it to blow up bigger than he could possibly imagine.
>>71853053
I think that was just for the video but who knows
>>71853201
I don't think the S/T was all to political desu. But I think he took Demon Days in that direction when he realized the audience he could reach using Gorillaz.
The 2 new ones are god tier. Hallelujah Money is still shit tho
