I've hit a very scary point in what people want to reach in a /mu/sic career. Recently, I finally found myself able to make enough money to keep my current life style and I don't need to work at gamestop anymore. My music can officially let me live off the income it gives me.
I'm not here to pander my stuff I'm here because I'm very, VERY, scared of what's to come.
The only music that makes me REAL money is the music that other people order from me. I don't get a say in the song and it's all what they want even if they make me make something I hate. And that's fine, that's just work. When I get the time I make music that I enjoy.
When I got home around a month ago at night from recording I sat on my bed and felt the most empty feeling I've ever felt in my entire life. I feel so hollow and filled with remorse because I've finally hit where I've wanted to in life and I'm not enjoying it at all.
I already never laughed / cried, but now I don't even feel motivation or any kind of shift with music. I'm extremely hollow.
I'm scared.

Consider yourself lucky. Not sure what your exact situation is but try to slowly shift and make the music you get paid to make and the music you love to make one and the same.
