This album sounds like no other album ever
>inb4 Dan Deakon, Deerhunter, Black Dice, of Montreal, The Olivia Tremor Control, Black Moth Super Rainbow etc.....
No, none of these sounds like MPP

its over the top sound was certainly inspired by funeral and ITAOTS, but yes that album is pretty original
Dan Deacon's Bromst sounds like this

I'd argue Olivia Tremor Control is pretty similar. It's not EXACTLY like MPP, but you can definitely hear AnCo borrowing a lot from them.
The theme isnt that original but the overall sound is definitely original, just because it's pretty opportunistic with what sounds/feelings are used, and I think that's just Animal Collective's magic.
Why /mu/ likes to compare so many albums is beyond me. Everyone's different, id argue that not even one artist has albums that are very similar. They intentionally make something unique.

How so?

Who Will Cut Your Hair When We're Gone? Sounds kinda similar though more akin to Feels/Strawberry Jam.
Never heard of pet sounds?

this album is good as fuck. no idea why I pretended to hate it for so long.
It's the most original, refined and accomplished AnCo album

It was probably /mu/ or other people's hype / disdain. Sad state of of affairs, people letting external bs affect their musical enjoyment, but its good you finally came around.
Merriweather Post Pavilion and Here Comes the Indian are objectively Animal Collective's best works. I'd say "prove me wrong" but you can't.

I never could got into MPP and AnCo in general until I tried listening to it on shrooms. Then I finally "got" the appeal of letting yourself be overwhelmed by all the small sounds and loops within loops and now I feel like a lost acidhead trying to go back to his first big trip...

MPP is like pet sounds on ketamine.

If we made someone listen to a track on Pet Sounds, they wouldn't mistake it for a MPP track or even say they are made by the same artist
