What's the patrician way to name audio files?

I'm clinging towards
>01 Mushroom.mp3

>What's the patrician way to name audio files?
The file doesn't end in .Mp3 I'll tell you that right now
>>
>>71590673
As long as your tags are right, the filename doesn't matter too much, but I cling to the same thing.
>>
title.extension
Proper tags make [#] Titile.ext redundant and ugly

And to go farther, proper directories should look like
Artist-Album [Year]
>>
Music directory/Artist/Album/Track# Title.extension
anything else is garbage tier
>>
If you're going to have the track number you have to have the disc number too.

>mfw all these plebs with single-disc records
>>
>>71590673
This is correct.
>>
Crudely photoshopped image. I've seen the original, it really didn't need to be...
>>
>>71590673
>>01 Mushroom.mp3
jesus christ, spaces in filenames?
>>
>>71591142
Yeah, why not? This is 2017.
>>
>>71591362
having spaces in filenames makes it harder to do things from a command line, this might seem trivial, but it makes managing files much faster.
>>
>>71591535
if you can't handle spaces on files if you're using the command line, then you shouldn't be using the command line.
>>
>>71591535
this complex is better and smarter and funer meme is getting really old
>>
>>71591535
Literally a non-issue with tab completion and auto escaping by default... trust me when I say we handle spaces in filenames.
Besides, "01_Mushroom.mp3" is disgusting to look at.
>>
>>71591542
>>71591557
>>71591864
ladies please, why make it harder than it has to be?
>>
>>71590786

>Not just grouping them into 1 continuous album

Have "disc 1,disc 2" for digital files is pointless
>>
>>71590673
I would do Title.extension
Wouldn't worry about spaces like others are saying itt because if a song title has multiple words, it'll look shitty without spaces

You shouldn't really need the track number out front with proper tagging

To keep them in order just set your file explorer to order by track number instead of alphabetical
>>
As long as the artist isn't in the filename I don't mind but some mp3 players read file names rather than metadata so sometimes retard stuff happens like 2 disc albums going in order of disc 1 track 1 > disc 2 track 1 > disc 1 track 2 etc.
>>
>>71593713
Also I hate filenames that are in all caps unless it's for an artist purpose and even then I still don't like it but I live with it
>>
>>71590673
every album I download from soulseek has a different naming convention, so as long as they start with the track/cd number I don't bother changing them
I'm a bitch about my tags though. they have to be perfect
>>
>>71591079
do you got a name? almost sure she's portuguese
>>
>>71590673

[genre] / [artist] / [release type] / [release year] - [release title].flac

With multiple track/disc releases (e.g. albums) stored as multi-track FLACs (therefore eliminating track gaps) containing embedded CUE sheet, meta-data tags, and album art.

If FLACs aren't available/your thing, it's the same as above except a ZIP file with all associated files for a release inside and named whatever so long as they appear in the proper order.

And, of course, a music player like foobar2000 that can read multi-track FLACs/audio files from ZIPs properly.

Anything else is amateur hour.

>having spaces in filenames makes it harder to do things from a command line,
Stop living in the past.

Beatriz Carvalheira, and there's the original.

You ///literally/// can't tell the difference unless you pay thousands of dollars on equipment and speakers/headphones.
>>
>>71595655
thanks man, used to have her added on fb. real fine
>>
>>71590719
What about albums with untitled or repeating-title songs?
>>
>>71590745
Pretty sure this is a standard.
>>
>>71590673
[Music Folder]/Artist/(Year) Album/(Disc.Track Number.) Title
>>
>>71590673
Artist/Year - Album/Track - Title.Ext

e.g. Grimes/2015 - Art Angels/04 - Flesh Without Blood.mp3

Simple and effective.
>>
music/artist/date - albumname/discno.trackno - title.ext
>>
>>71597196
About the same as me >>71597107
>>
>>71595670
lmao all DACs and amps more expensive than the ODAC and O2 ($150 each) are placebo
>>
library/music/artist/(year) album/01. title.ext

>using hyphens ever
>>
>>71597585
>>71595842
this, the albums need to be chronologically sorted, otherwise it's mayhem
>>
Like this
>>
>>71590745
nah fuck that. i do
music directory/artist - album/title.extension
the player seperates them into artists and albums and track numbers so i dont worry about it
