I've thoroughly listened through Manson's discography

Cake and Sodomy is pretty good. Everything else ranges from okay to awful. Manson just sucks in general. The only reason that album isn't complete garbage is because Trent Reznor had his hands in it. I'm actually kind of convinced that Reznor wrote the entire album and Manson as a performer was just sort of a concept he came up with.

Also, it was really Manson's other band members that made his early albums great, as they started leaving or got kicked out, he slowly declined in quality and then you ended up with Golden Age of Grotesque and those after it where it was mainly just him writing the songs except he can only really write pop songs so they just sounded like try hard top 40 "metal" hits. His voice and occasionally his poetry are his only talents, hence why this was his best album, because back then it was Marilyn Manson and The Spooky Kids when they had more control in the songs and ideas.

Dope Hat was easily one of the best on the album. It was extremely catchy throughout, and it had the whole wavy carnival riff feel throughout, a great chorus and really nice beat.
The only thing that Reznor added was the background noises, which if you like those, you should definitely like Dope Hat.

Manson was, and still is, an amazing front man, the same hipsters that complain about him, like Peter gabriel and his ballon suits.

In Manson’s 1998 autobiography, The Long Hard Road Out Of Hell, he reflects on the subject of addiction at two key points in his band’s history. The first of these is at the start of the career, when the band’s then-bass player/core songwriter, Gidget Gein (Brad Stewart), overdosed on heroin, prompting Manson to declare “I couldn’t (and still can’t) tolerate someone who’s a fucking weakling living out of a spoon and a needle”. He later reflects – after suffering an overdose of his own during the recording sessions for Antichrist Superstar - of how he “managed to convince [himself] that [he] was not Brad Stewart, that [he] was still in control: this overdose would not be an epiphany or a wake-up call to straighten up. It was simply a mistake.” Back in 1996, Manson’s ideological position on the subject of addiction was clear, even if his practices fell short.

Fast forward to 2009 – he’s squawking about in fancy hotel rooms, drinking absinthe and making a tit of himself. He’s turning up at the BBC gacked up to the tits and talking even more bollocks. Manson’s alcoholism – cited by Dita von Teese as one of the major causes of the break-up of the marriage – was even held up by some critics as a reason why his live performances around this time were so much bobbins.
