What do you think of New Order? What's your favorite album/song by them?
I like Movement and the earlier singles like Temptation and Ceremony. Blue Monday is great too, obviously.
>>71492261
bizzarre love triangle is perfection
>>71492261
Full version of Elegia is easily their best song
1981-factus-1982, that album, ceremony and maybe blue monday are the only things they did that are really great
>>71492261
everything after PC&L is pretty unremarkable but the early stuff is great
Procession ftw
I recently read Peter Hook's book about the Hacienda club. It's pretty astounding how much of a money pit the club was and New Order being owners had to pay the bills because the club wasn't making money. Basically all the money made from touring and record sells went to fund the club and keep Factory Records afloat.
>Temptation (7")
>Age of Consent
>Your Silent Face
>Perfect Kiss

Ironically, Blue Monday was the best selling 12" of all time. Due to the cost of sleeve production, Factory Records lost 5p per record.
do you think that any of them are secretly kind of glad that ian blew his brains out? i like joy division better but i doubt that they would have been as big as new order was

I'm sure they were glad not to have to watch this during shows anymore
>>71493692
i dunno, they were still trying to imitate curtis for a bit after his death. i don't think he would've prevented them from going in their more synth-poppy direction, they just would have had more interesting lyrics

gotta keep yourself occupied when you don't play an instrument

favorite album: Love Life
Top 3 Songs: Age of Consent, Blue Monday, Love Vigilantes
>that fucking intro

>>71493744
new order lyrics are definitely lacking compared to joy divisions
then again it is dance music
>>71492261
To me absolutely the best synth pop group ever, and superior to Joy Division by far. In the 80s of course. 90s New Order is kind of meh and 00s New Order is straight-up bad.
PC&L, Brotherhood, and Low Life are about equal quality.
Favorite tracks are Love Vigilantes, Face Up, Age Of Consent, Your Silent Face, Leave Me Alone, Ceremony and Temptation.
oh you've got green eyes, oh you've got blue eyes, oh you've got grey eyes

shit eyes detected
No love for Technique?
>>71494574
I have a Technique shirt that looks cool as fuck but I haven't been able to find it like in like a year
>>71494218
>superior to Joy Division
i don't see how you can be retarded enough to even make a comparison, completely different feel and style. New Order def went in a soft, limp direction after Ian's passing.

What the fuck

>>71492261
Age of consent might just unironically be the best song of all time desu
>>71492340
This, Blue Monday sounds like a trial run for this
>>71493838
>Love Vigilantes
this song doesn't get enough love
Sub-Culture is pretty good
but how can you go from this https://youtu.be/9ZCzJRXvpCg
... to that https://youtu.be/ugg4tWCvkHg
every time i see you fallin i
get down onmy knees and pray
>>71492261
every single New Order song sounds the same
>>71495305
All those stupid fucking noises they threw in ruined it
>>71495396
but dude that is just not true

new order is probably the best band in their niche
The Him and Leave Me Alone are ace
>>71495443
What niche is that?
>>71495529
Very poppy and 80s sounding post-punk i guess
>>71495561
wow you mean like new wave
>>71493257
sauce on her?
>>71495409
Fact: Peter Saville didn't design a cover for the "Sub-Culture" single because he disliked John Robie's remix so much.
>>71495561
hahahaha
>>71494218
>00s New Order is straight-up bad
Truer words have never been spoken. I don't understand all the positive reviews for their newer stuff (especially their latest album), it's bland as fuck.
peepee time
>kicking the most talented member that is carrying the band
What did they mean by this?
>>71495715
his joy division covers are embarrassing though
>>71495782
You think so? I saw his band live a while back, I thought they did a good job performing the Joy Division material. I'll never forget seeing Love Will Tear Us Apart live.
>>71495835
it's his voice
ian couldn't sing but his vocals were still good, hook's are just all around terrible
>>71495892
I couldn't disagree more. He replicated Curtis and Sumner's vocals perfectly to my ears, and he was charismatic as fuck.
>>71492261
movement is their best
>>71494574
Technique is pretty good
I like Mr Disco
