ITT: Only post metal that was made before Black Sabbath's seminal debut.
>>

>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSdtoGUmpuY

There's plenty of heavy psych out there from that time. Don't know if I'd call it metal, but it's closest I can think of before Black Sabbath.
>>
>>71445720
>>71445859
>blue cheer
yeah, either blue cheer, or heavy psych in general is what you want, OP

>>
>>71445781
yes of course.. however there are examples of metal that happened before sabbath
>>
>>71445907

One of the very first truly metallic songs, everything else in here is either blues rock or psych.

21st Century Schitzoid Man is very, very close to being a metal track. And that was 1969.

The Gun-Race with the Devil

Pink Floyd-The Nile Song

In-a-gadda-da-vida is the closest thing I can think of.
>>
>>71445970
I agree completely and I would consider it metal.
>>
>>71445970
lol thats not metal
if anything its closer to big band with rock electric guitar than metal
>>
>>71446025
Its got a lot of elements that would later be integrated into metal, its heavy both musically and lyrically, it takes use of distorted vocals. it is probably the closest thing to metal before metal.
>>
>>71446025
I'd argue it is metal sentiment throughout the track and actual tone during the vocal sections. A very heavy track indeed.
>>
Vanilla Fudge
Flower Travellin Band
Blue Cheer
>>
>>71445859
god damn this is so good. metal as fuck
>>
>>71445720

>>
>>71446680
This is closer to punk rock than metal
>>
>>71446696
wouldn't consider this metal but awesome footage nonetheless
>>
>>71445993
>>71446080
>>71446025
In fairness, ozzy osbourne did do a cover of it so its kind of proof that they are at least somewhat similar in genre. You can continue to debate whether it is or not but im not in much doubt.
>>
>>71447362

fine line...punk bands didnt "jam" - blues based high velocity rock...histrionic guitar solo..song about fucking....

progenitors of both.
>>
>>71447681

fine line...certainly an inspiration and some consider progenitor.
>>
>>71447681

was it the argyle sweater vest?
>>
>>71447827
>>71447804
it's just hard rock
>>
is there any jazz that was doomy in nature, or aggressive/metallic? I'm thinking of some of the harsh stuff coltrane put out like Ascension
>>
black sabbath took such a big leap when they release their debut
>>
>>71448042

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtJq5W8tcjM

This is quite dark/menacing.
>>
There will never EVER be a metal missing link discovered

Ever.

Do you have any fucking idea how many years we've been trying? Actively trying? It will never happen.
>>
>>71447874

>>

Only thing that comes to mind would be Deep Purple and The Crazy World of Arthur Brown.

(Also "Blood of The Sun" by Mountain but that might be a bit of a stretch)
