>>
>>71419522
He has none. In fact, there's evidence to the contrary, seeing as how the name of King Crimson is itself a political statement against the Vietnam War (a crimson king, historically, refers to somebody whose reign had a lot of bloodshed) and how political the lyrics are to their first (and, hell, second - ItWoP carries the same trend as TCotCK and Epitaph before it, and Cat Food is arguably a statement about the fast food/grocery industry) album - 21st Century Schizoid Man even explicitly refers to innocents being raped with napalm fire and Fripp even dedicated the song to Spiro Agnew; I Talk to the Wind is arguably challenging religion/organized religion with its talk about "talking to the wind" and the wind "not hearing;" Epitaph is pretty crystal-fucking-clear in what it means; who knows what the fuck Moonchild and The Court of the Crimson King are about, but I sure as fuck don't see Fripp advocating for a Fourth Crusade anywhere in their lyrics.

I live in the US.

There is no true mainstream "left" in the US. Liberals are centrists, Dems are center-right. That Bernie Sanders, a center-left politician, was heavily viewed as a very far left political candidate is proof. The window of discourse is pretty much entirely in the right wing.
>>
>>71420774
Bernie is not center left
>>
What I find comical is so-called anti-establishment punk rocker types like Green Day actively and enthusiastically endorsing Hillary Clinton, the most establishment, corporatist presidential candidate one could have found anywhere. If they'd voted for some third party candidate or fringe lefty like Jill Stein, then ok fine. But by endorsing Hillary, all credibility they had disappeared instantaneously.
>>
>>71420784
Yeah, he is. Despite claiming to be a socialist he doesn't actually push for what socialism is, he just pushes for socialist-ish policies.
>>
>>71420785
I heavily endorsed Hillary despite despising everything the Democratic stands for. Whatever she did, it probably would have been better than what Trump's doing right now.

>>71420893
"Muh 1%" isn't leftist talk, it's reality. Whether you have a problem with it is politics.
"Lenin was misunderstood" is ironic coming from him when he fights for barely even leftist policies.
>>71420900
What's your idea of centrist if labor unions are far left.
>>
>>71420934
Centrist would be pretty self explanatory
>>
>>71420934

>>
No idea about Bernie, but Hillary is very much a stone-hearted Leninist who believes a tightly disciplined party elite is needed to guide the sheeple. Her entire election campaign was based on this principle with Hollywood celebrities telling you sheeple that they alone know what's good for you.

All that and more is why they lost. Nobody needs Oprah Winfrey or Beyonce telling them that they're dumb clueless redneck Jesus fuckers who need their wise guidance.

I can't tell if you're going for an anti-Semitic "Jews are behind it" global elite conspiracy approach or just stating statistics, but if you're doing the latter then I'd like to inform you that the elites - who are comprised of many ethnicities - are kind of the main targets of socialism, as they are the bourgeoisie who benefit the most from capitalism.
>>
>>71421036
It's kind of hard to not do it when you're out against a system that pretty much spits out two terrible choices consistently. Trump won because people wanted change, and he certainly was a change.
>>71421047

>>
>>71421047

Lol me too live in Irvine a lot of people are quite retarded and uninformed
>>
>>71421070
I know that that's all leftists do move goalposts
>>
>>71421032
Their own media echo chamber killed them. They literally only listened to their own propaganda when it seemed increasingly obvious as Election Day drew closer that they were headed for a 1980-style blowout.

>entire forests of Trump lawn signs while Hillary signs were rare enough to be almost a novelty when you saw them
>huge Trump campaign rallies with thousands of enthusiastic people while there would be like 30 people at a Hillary rally
>every other day bringing some new scandal that Hillary was involved in

And yet, right up to Election Day, these same delusional media outlets were still putting out polls that gave her a 90% chance of winning. This also caused the Democrats to totally ignore the Rust Belt states despite the mounting evidence that they were about to flip. They simply didn't imagine they could lose Wisconsin or Pennsylvania and didn't even campaign in those states.
>>
>>71421065
You have no endgame
>>
>>71421084
I completely agree and it's pathetic to watch. And not even from the "oh hoh I'm an enlightened leftist who's so high and mighty" view, just from a generalist view. Both ends of the window of discourse in the US just constantly bicker about issues they don't fully understand and never actually get anything done. God damn, if you really care at least go fucking do something about it. If you want change, get senators and house seats to match what
you want to see. Don't just turn up for presidentials then whine about how there's not a choice. Your braindead behavior is why there's no choice.
>>71421138
Don't give me the "oh Trump winning could be seen from a mile away."
Trump had a disproportionate display of support because he had a lot more fanatical supporters. The vast majority of Trump supporters genuinely thought he would do a good job, the vast majority of Hillary supporters thought at least she wouldn't be as bad as Trump.
Exit polls were also showing a victory for Hillary with a pretty close margin. And early election results also showed her winning. Through the day it slowly began to tip, and the final victory was significant but still pretty close.
It's easy to look in hindsight and be like "no shit he won," but hindsight is 20/20.
>>
>>71421138
It's like the film critic Pauline Kael saying after the 1972 election "I don't understand how this could happen. Everyone I know voted for McGovern."
>>
>>71421187
It could definitely be seen a mile away and only a Tumblrfaggot (ie. you) will argue otherwise. Also those exit polls were trash because they were all controlled by leftists.

I could see quite easily that what was happening was 2008 in reverse, where the outsider hopey changey guy beats the establishment "I have experience and I know how Washington works" candidate. You could even see it in the campaign slogans and how much more marketable the winner's was.

>2008
>Obama has "Hope and Change" vs McCain's "Straight Talk" (what the fuck is that?)

>2016
>Trump has MAGA vs Hillary's "Stronger Together" (huh?)

>Also those exit polls were trash because they were all controlled by leftists.
Because it's in the best interest of independent groups to publish misleading exit polls just to support a specific candidate.

Hillary also would have won massively if not for the whole emails thing. She was leading like 60-30 for a while, then the emails thing happened and it was more like 55-45 and it continued to close as the election drew closer. She still was leading polls on election day. And yes, independent polls, but knowing that you're a brain damaged Trump fanatic anything that disagrees with the Trump is literally perfect and won before he even started narrative is fake news.
>>71421344
How is it bait? A truly communist society would be a literal utopia for everyone.
>>
>>71421384
>Because it's in the best interest of independent groups to publish misleading exit polls just to support a specific candidate.
If only they were independent and not creating misleading polls with the intent of demoralizing Republican voters (oh, no there's a 95% chance of Hillary winning don't even bother to come out on Tuesday it's a done deal).

>Hillary also would have won massively if not for the whole emails thing
costanza.jpg

LOLno. She had so many scandals that even if the email thing hadn't happened, something else would have dragged her down. And that doesn't even cover her unappealing icicle personality, reputation as a Beltway insider, disillusioned Bernouts who thought their messiah was robbed, and the countless other deficiencies she had as a candidate.
>>
>>71421462
Not going to bother anymore, diehard Trump supporters only believe whatever their god emperor tells them and anything that challenges that is fake news.

You have to remember that being liberal in the 70's would be staunchly conservative by today's standards. Even a very far left artist from the early 2000's would be considered a moderate at best in 2017. This will happen to you too, some day. If you were to be teleported to the year 2056, you'd be considered a backwards ass nazi fascist by the liberal elite of the future. It's the reality we live in, and you chose to make it this way.

Who are the 'whole lot of right wing musicians' you say? I don't see a huge list happening 'cause there isn't one. Its garbage you guys have to drop this bullshit and maybe rethink your politics because what does it mean that the majority of music you like is made by left wingers? it means you're a dick
>>

Just like the massive pedophilia ring in the upper echelon of Hollywood that has been going on for years, the most famous "indie" musicians are secretly redpilled. Starting to doubt your authenticity, anon. I thought you were woke
>>
>>71426838
Not an argument. Unless you continue to shift your views to the left for your entire life, at some point when you are older you will be conservative. Not because your views changed, but because the future "standard" of views is far more left.

The latter one's quite long so I'll give you some choice quotes:
>'I wouldn’t vote Ukip because I don’t think they’re going to get us out, although I think Nigel Farage is very clever. I don’t dislike him.’
>‘I don’t think I’ll ever forgive Labour for the state they left us in,’ Daltrey glowers, looking as if he is about to spit.
>‘If Margaret Thatcher hadn’t got in, then we would have had to have left the country.
>'We struggled to stay here throughout the Seventies. We were the only band that didn’t leave.
>'Tax was 83 per cent. If the Tories hadn’t won I’d have gone to America like everyone else did. I’d have been a really, really, really rich man now.
Also interestingly as you mention Pete being a communist is that here he says:
>‘I’ve always been centrist,’ grimaces Townshend. ‘But as I get older I start to value the past and traditions. A more conservative view of British life, island life.’

>The real history of Cuba, which has not yet been released, was dissolved in a midsummer dream skillfully built by Castro's stupid admirers in the West. Then there is the true story of the island-regime, that of the poet Armando Valladares, sentenced to 30 years, a hero.

>The real Cuba is that of the dissidents, such as Guillermo Fariñas, a psychologist and independent journalist, and Oscar Biscet, the heroic doctor on the island where there are more abortions than births. Half a million Cubans passed through the Gulag of Fidel Castro in Cuba. In comparison to the total population of the island that is eleven million, the Castro dictatorship boasted the highest per capita political incarceration rate in the world.

>Castro institutionalized torture against the “anti-socialist elements”. Not to mention the systematic repression, brutal and disproportionate with regard to the minimum of dissent. And to compensate for the lack of consumer goods there was always a generous supply of communist propaganda.

>The list of US celebrities who justified this gulag is astonishing. Dan Rather called Fidel Castro “the Elvis of Cuba”, “Castro has brought literacy and a large rate of health care in his country” (Barbara Walters)”, “Castro is one of the wisest men in the world”, (Oliver Stone), “Fidel, I love you” (Francis Ford Coppola), and we could continue by mentioning Steven Spielberg, Robert Redford, Jack Nicholson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss.

>And Mark Zuckerberg doesn’t seem to care that Cuba has fewer per capita phones than Papua, New Guinea and fewer Internet connections than Uganda.

>According to the Cuba Archive Project, until 2005 on the island there were 9240 “political deaths”. Armando Lago, a Harvard trained economist and vice president of the Cuba Archive Project, estimates that 78,000 people have died trying to flee from the Caribbean island (20% of the original Cuban population lives abroad). 5600 Cubans were executed, 1200 were eliminated in “extrajudicial executions” (five times higher than Augusto Pinochet's record).

>It is difficult to quantify the number of homosexuals imprisoned in concentration camps or the number of books buried in the archives (the preferred method under communism, while the Nazis burned them).

>All numbers are forgotten in favor of dancing in the streets of L’Havana. Because, as the most famous Italian ballet dancer Carla Fracci said “Castro is a dictator, I know, but I do not forget that ballet is highly regarded in socialist countries”.

>The ballet…of course.

And did you know that Forbes Magazine estimated Fidel Castro's personal net worth at $900 million? Also, he was born into a sugar family who owned a 25,000 acre plantation. He went to an expensive private school as well, far from a working class upbringing.

Said Lucky Luciano, "I had my casinos stolen from me by an even bigger gang of crooks."

No, you wanted to argue in favor of Communism using Cuba as an example because you don't know what the economic conditions in Cuba are. If you did then you wouldn't have tried to use Cuba in the first place.

I didn't make you look stupid, you did. That's why there's a Domino's job in the future with your name already on it.

You have to be retarded to believe that, American culture is so left right now it hurts.

If you lived in reality and not /pol/ land, you would know American liberals are center-right.
Also being called racist when you say stupid racist shit doesn't make the person a super far leftie.
>>71433790
Cuba isn't even communist, I'm not sure what your point is. It's just not that bad and not the literal hellhole you make it out to be.
You're also really dedicated to this stupid ass dominoes joke, how many times do I have to say I have a job.
>>
>>71433887
I don't live in /pol/ land and I'm a liberal. American culture is very left, arguably centre left. Not as left as the UK or Canada though.

Stop.

By every account in American culture you are wrong.

Are you familiar with the concept of the overton window? You only think that it's far left because it's leaning more towards centrist, which is way on the left of the overton window in the US.
>>71433961
It fucking wasn't, name literally one thing about it that was communist according to a dictionary definition of communism.

Enjoy your last (you), pizza boy.
>>

The overton window is leaning actually very left and is becoming more and more exclusionary towards ideologies.

i.e Pewdiepie is a nazi.

America is left, get over it. You are objectively wrong.
>>
>>71434001
The Overton Window is hardly centrist, it's definitely right-wing.
Anybody who genuinely believes America is actually left-wing has betrayed their right-wing bias.
>>
>>71433790
Not the same people. That was my first post.
All I'm saying is that their economy would probably be better if they had been able to openly trade with all their neighbors during one of the most rapid periods of social and technological expansion of human history.
>>
>>71434047
That's not even left wing, that's just stupidity.
>>71434057
That's what I'm saying, it's being pulled towards centrist so everyone thinks that's some crazy radical far left.

Maybe they shouldn't have been fucking commies and a state sponsor of terrorism that let the Soviets station nukes only 90 miles from the US.

Yeah, how dare they be allied with a country that shares their ideology?

Look, I'm not even that big of a fan of Cuba (left-libertarian), but you should probably try considering context.

>Zappa spends his entire career sarcastically deriding the American propaganda machine and people not doing their own research and being mindless sheep except for him
>yet eventually falls for the propaganda anyway and does no research into communism whatsoever
What a shame. If he had actually been introduced to some leftist literature, he'd probably be a full left-libertarian. Many of his songs criticize the end results of capitalism (like corporations, consumerism, media being used to brainwash the masses), but he never put two and two together and realized what the source of all that was.
His work against the PMRC was still very admirable, though.
