why is it that these three countries are responsible for 99.9% of the good music in the world?
>>71410641
because McDonald's is the greatest establishment to ever exist and it's not even a competition
Why Germany? It should be Japan.
>>71410641
because your conception of good music stays on a rockist point of view
>>71410677
Fuck off weaboo cultural tourist
>>71410641
Because cultural imperialism.
>>71410677
>muh shitty RYMcore artists are better than the world's greatest classical composers
kys
>>71410641
Highlight most of Europe and eliminate the US and the same question could be asked
>>71410795
the answers will still be
>>71410671
>>71410715
>>71410747
>>71410715
not him, but germany had arguably the best composers in the classical period and america (and to some extent the uk) basically invented modern music. jazz, rock, hip-hop, etc...
so technically he has a 'western' music point of view.
>>71410641
because you don't listen to a lot of good music
>>71410795
>eliminate the US
Personally, what I find to be the biggest problem with other countries' music is that too often they ultimately just become way too influenced by the Anglosphere and don't actually draw upon their own folk music
Like, it's crazy to me that the biggest artists in Africa are just pop and jazz or that the Middle East has the same sort of corporate waifuism as the US, etc.
>>71410677
>Why Germany
How serious are you right now?
>>71410641
I think a genuinely interesting question is why has Germany produced significantly more interesting and great music than a country such as France or Italy despite them being comparable in all other aspects?
>>71410641
If we're including pre-20th century music, the best music has come from Germany, Italy, and the US in that order.
>>71410916
France has done a ton of great shit, Italy and Spain on the other hand are pretty disappointing
>>71410916
>France
busy rioting then being cucks then rioting then being cucks again
>Italy
busy doing actual quality music such as classical and the avant-garde
name one good american artist
>>71410641
Agreed. Here is the order of greatness within that holy trinity, too:
UK > USA > Germany
>>71410887
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this as well. I feel like other countries want their music scene to be as good as Europe/US and so they choose to imitate them instead of starting a new thing.
Plus, American things are trendy, fashionable and modern. There's not a lot of appreciation for one's own land
>>71410979
fuck off
>>71410916
france is pretty great too and has had its fair hare of not only top notch musicians, but painters, philosophers, authors,etc...
germany is probably the country that has produced some of the highest quality culture in the modern world (literature, poetry, music, art, etc... are all outstanding) so you are meassuring those countries with la creme de la creme.
as to why? germans i guess, maybe their culture or ambition. them being at the heart of europe also helped.
>thinking Britain is musically important
Other than dadrock they've done nothing
>>71411039
True, everybody likes it when americans fuck off.
>>71410916
(regarding classical) France and Italy do have some very, very good music. Some of which inspired German composers. The thing is, the best German composers (the big 3) are just way ahead of everything else.
>>71410964
>Italy
Produced lots of great shit. Montreverdi, Vivaldi, Rossini, Scarlatti, Gesualdo, etc.
Sweden is more relevant than Britain
>>71410977
are you implying france doesn't have it's big share of avant-garde and classical as well
>>71411030
It's quite difficult to resist. American culture is a cancer spread throughout the world.
>>71410641
>Italy, Netherlands & Russia not highlighted
Fuck off plen
>>71411059
Get a load of this pleb who doesn't listen to Renaissance music
>>71410641
They're all moderately above the equator and English or a language that heavily inspired English words is the dominant language, thus appealing to the syntax and compositional requirements of a dronenen like us
But I though there was some amazing Yanomami and African music, too
>>71410641
Include France and Russia and I'll agree with you
Jews have not done anything that great musically
>>71411299
hotline bling
>>71411299
>>71411299
>the greatest American band of all time
>fronted by a Jew with occasional accompaniment on vocals from a Nazi
>>71411299
What about Mahler and Shoenberg (early work. not twelve-tone memeialism.)?
>>71410641
should have at least included brazil, japan or france
>>71411389
Junk music, even that crap by John Cage is better!
>>71411420
What about Philip Glass? If you want more modern stuff.
>>71411335
McDonald's?
Because those are the ones that can actually generate culture, maintain it and export it, Brazil for instance can generate it and kind of maintain but can't export, the sad thing is that are wonderful musicians out there that get through live without earning a penny, while other's are shit and just products from casting and get to live like kings.
>>71411078
maybe if you only listen to death metal
>>71410677
Boku no nigga :^)
>>71410887
This. They either "Stay true to their roots" and call the outdated bongo bang-rocks-together six-notes-on-a-pseudoinstrument retardity ethnic while refusing to learn how music making works, or "Go pro" and become generic.
Classicalfags are fucking cancer
>>71410641
>USA
>good music
>>71412129
How so? They haven't taken (retaken) the word by storm like raptards, rockists and poptimists.
