I expected some boring pseudo-psych folk but this is actually very emotional. I feel really affected by this spiritual shit.
What's your opinion about this album?
DAMBALA SEND DEMONS
Really, really good atmosphere.
I FUCKING LOVE CARIBBEAN MUSIC
It's a fantastic album
MAMA LOI, PAPA LOI
I SEE FIRE IN THE DEAD MAN'S EYE
>>71383577
love it
>>71383629
Has this ever been sampled in hip hop? Cuz that would be awesome.
>>71383577
Great album, I don't see why it gets grouped with poseur-core though.
Found it from Blixa's favourite albums. Loving it
>>71384218
poseur-core is a meme
Truly great

Exuma 1 & 2 are some of the most underrated jems of their era.
How does Exuma 2 compare? Can anyone recommend similar albums?
COME GO WITH ME
>>71384321
Exuma 2 is basically an expansion of Exuma 1. They could've been a double album actually. Check out Dr. John's first few records if you want something similar.
>>71384380
Thank you. Care to recommend more Caribbean music? Doesn't necessarily have to be in the same realm.
>>71384403
it's my third-favorite album ever
I liked it a lot.

Exuma, Exuma II, Do Wah Nanny, Reincarnation and Snake are all worth getting.
This oneĀ“s from Do Wah Nanny

And this is from Snake

Just listen to all of Exuma's stuff
I've heard people say not to listen beyond Exuma 2, but I personally like it all, so I'd recommend

Thank you very much. Threads like these are the reason I come here.

I like this album but was a little disappointed when reading about the guy
>went to New York to study architecture
>was part of Greenwich Village folk scene
That is a little inauthentic. I imagined a guy living in some Caribbean village, in touch with villagers' occult lifestyle every day, not composing these whimsical songs in the first world.
>>71384745
He probably was in touch with that stuff before he went to new York.
>>71384745
Wouldn't that make the album even more impressive? Almost all jazz divas had horrible childhoods and it translated to their music and vocal delivery, but on the other hand a guy who's from New York created an album so different to western music.
OH DAMBALAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Different from*
>>71384727
Why? To be told to listen to the discography (which you should always do anyway) of the one Caribbean artist liked on here and RYM?
>>71384835
There were other recommendations though:

Care to recommend more?

I can think of nothing that sounds like Exuma, he's quite unique. These things kinda give me the same "feel" though.
Everything by Fela Kuti, obviously.

Well, to be fair he moved to NY as a 17 years old so he could get in touch with lots of spooky stuff on Bahamas as >>71384789 pointed.
