For some reason I find the Police's music really comfy. Perhaps due to their use of flange and synthesizers.
They remind me of my childhood in the early 2000s, living in California, watching awesome shows like Rocket power, As told by ginger, and early Spongebob.
Is there any music you like that brings you to the specific time and place where you listened to it?

This is a sweet thread, OP. Made me smile.
I'd say that old Pokémon OSTs have a similar effect on me.

Any garage/bassline/2step music takes me back.

Is your name max?
If so yes

The mixing on Police records is very open and spacious, there's a lot of air to them. And their use of 6th chords and flanges and synths etc adds to this, as the laid back reggae feel (specifically, leaving the "one" open and accenting the "three" is what makes reggae feel so laid back).
They're also fantastic tunes
Nobody ever talks about The Police on here
eminem, the 2000s
same as this i guess >>71277238
although i like contemporary internet rap/edm/trap shit

Great band, too. Any other albums that they have that are worth listening to? I've only listened to the one that OP posted.
i was also a child in the early 00s in California and my parents played the Police all the time, reminds me of road trips a lot desu, but I've traveled more into their other tracks since then.
That being said, this song is killer.

All of them, especially Outlandos d'Amour and Synchronicity
Also their live tour from like 2008

EARLY 00s, I said.
Hey man, there's a clear difference between 2001-2006(pic related), which was kinda like the late 90s with better technology, and 2008-2009 which was the Obamamania Bieber social media era and basically indistinguishable from today.
>>71281185
I dunno, in the 00s I was already eating pussy, I don't relate it to childhood, more like late 80s/early 90s. You missed out.
>>71281210
Ok grandpa
>>71281219
>i-if you're not a gen Z shithead like me, you're automatically a grandpa!
Typical.
>>71276723
Yaaay, a Police thread. I don't know of comfort, but Sting could write a great song and Stew and Andy would clip Sting's weaker ideas with mastery of their own instruments into perfect pop albums
>>71277618
You get a thread every two weeks or so about them.
>>71277651
This, if you don't have a pop album collection without all of their albums you are really missing out.
>>71277758
I wish they were /mu/ core. Every time I bring up how they are the best 80's band I get some people telling me Talking Heads, The Smiths, or The Cure were significantly better. I honestly don't get that. The Police could be every bit as weird as Talking Heads, romantic as The Cure, and were perfect pop makers like The Smiths.
