Is it just me or Parliament's discography is not as good as people say it is? I went through it this past week and nothing impressed me to be honest. I'd rather listen to Funkadelic
that's kind of unfair comparing the two
Sounds like you're a pussy ass white boy to me. White people can only into harmonic interplay, not rhythmic interplay (unless it's watered down mainstream rap of course.) Funkadelic focuses on the earlier, Parliament focuses on the latter.

yeah maybe I'm just not into that poppy funk sound
>>71227922
that's why I compared them, dipshit
>>71227882
What's the differences between the two?? (aside from name, obviously)
>>71228083
Funkadelic is more focused on the instruments where Parliament is more focused on making poppier stuff.

Alright thanks. I've been meaning to listen to both for a while and I just assumed 'Oh fuck it they're the same thing'.

Funkadelic focuses on being more psychedelic, laid back, and having cool little sounds and melodies and stuff. Parliament focuses on a more funky, visceral, rhythmic sound.
I think they are both good. But I wouldn't be surprised say...if one of those pseuds who enjoy "complex music" like prog, fusion, etc. only likes Funkadelic or one of those "if this doesn't bump it sucks" people only likes Parliament.

What's the best from each? (Just out of curiosity, I'm probably going chronologically anyway)
I think most people say Maggot Brain for Funkadelic, right?

Parliament's legacy is mothership connection

I'm sure people will disagree but Free Your Mind and Your Ass Will Follow is a great Funkadelic record. The story behind it is they cut the whole record while tripping on acid.
