I've been in a band for about 8 months and we've been all over the place
You need to decide on the kind of music you want to make and openly express that to the other people in your band so you can reach a consensus on the kind of sound you're trying to achieve and write towards that.

Just focus on making a consistent sound you like. Most artists don't think about what genre they are until after they've solidified their sound.
