Rock Star fame is different than Hip-Hop/Pop Star fame.

Rock Stars/Bands usually become famous through some sort of "mysteriousness," (i.e. Ozzy sacrificing animals on stage, Blind Faith keeping 12 year olds as sex slaves, Led Zeppelin and the mud shark) while Hip-Hop and Pop Stars become famous through attention whoring.
