How do I get gud? I'm 100% comfortable with the fretboard and playing chords quickly, but I don't know where to go next. I guess my problem is that I have no direction since I can't afford a teacher right now.

Well, what kind of styles are you interested in playing? It helps to have a clear sense of direction.

Anything really, I just want to be able to freely play something nice sounding, without notes/tabs

Just keep playing with that goal in mind. Learn some basic theory, play some random shit, and just go from there. (Theory isn't needed, but it helps to understand what you're doing.) Just keep learning songs, and you'll pick up bits and pieces of techniques and ideas from them.

I've been doing that for like 7 years now.

There's a guy on Youtube called Ben Levin who does a "Music theory from the ground up" series you should watch.
Playing with other people who know what they're doing helps a lot. Don't just play by yourself
