I have been in the same place and believe me you will fucking pay the price if you drag this out. You can put on a facade all you want but no one can lie to themselves forever and soon the face you put on will give.

What's gonna happen is that you're gonna feel worse and worse, you will feel more and more of an intense emotional drain from having to fake shit time and time again, it's genuinely inevitable because it's impossible to do that without it festering into something you take out against yourself.

From there it can go two ways: You either get so frustrated that she becomes a punching bag for you to take it out on, you'll blame her for your position for however long you remain together even though you know it's your fault. Second possibility is that you just become so apathetic from living a lie that you just end up disconnecting entirely and fall into a real depression. Either option will end up with her finding out the truth because you can't keep it up long enough and dragging her down with you.

It doesn't matter if it's a short term problem either, she's gonna expect your investment and help and you will fail to meet the expectations because you won't connect anywhere near enough. I chose the second option and it fucked shit up bad, very bad; I broke a young girls heart when she was already feeling awful. If you respect her or just want to get out your only choice is to grow a spine and help her in any way you can now and gradually build up to the breakup.
