what's the actual point of having pedals and stuff

why doesn't everyone just plug their guitar into a computer and use virtual pedals then out put it to a loud speaker
>>
>>71143441
If you want to play anywhere but your house and play loud or gig (I use the word loosely for the people here) you're gonna need an amp and pedals or an amp with the effects you use already built in

this

if you're the average fa/gg/ot who stays tethered to his computer all day you're literally better off plugging your guitar into an audio interface as opposed to wasting your money on a shitty modeling amp
>>
What should I be looking for in an amplifier stand for a 2 x 12? All the ones I see online look flimsy as shit AND they're kind of expensive.

I just need to get my speakers pointed up a bit and the cabinet off the ground a little to reduce resonating with the floor.

Could use a recommendation from /mu/ friendos. Recently returning from a lomg break from guitar playing and im looking for a new one as i sold my old one. there are a ton of people who use character pedals into solid state amps and tube amps

if you can get a Catalinbread SFT and get that sound into a Fender why not?
>>
>>71149975
don't listen to people that say that. if you like the sound of a distortion pedal instead of the distortion on the amp then just use the pedal.

i have to use distortion pedals because i use a twin reverb and the most it can do is a slight overdrive crunch.
>>
>>71150045
if it sounds good who cares? that's the whole point of getting pedals, so you can fuck around with how the amp sounds

if someone wants to be a purest and just use what the amp can do then whatever, but i personally need more sounds than what my amp can do (didn't buy it, was my dads and he gave it to me)

Try to keep in mind that not everyone was destined to succeed at everything they want to. Even some of the musicians you might look up to have made compromises to get into the strata they're in. Brian May of Queen recently attained a PhD in astrophysics for example. When Queen started to get international recognition in 1974, he had to make the decision to abandon his doctoral studies at the time with no guarantee of lasting success in the music industry. It took him nearly 40 years to get back to finishing his degree and there was never any guarantee he would ever be able to finish it. Do you find that keeping a realistic perspective is sometimes a difficult task?

A lot of people will want an amplifier for its base characteristics and color it to their liking with pedals.
Take my chart for instance, I love the distortion I get from the Laney AOR, but I run that along with my MIG50 which is a very loud clean amp so that I can get the main distortion from the AOR which isn't as inhibited by the pedals and I also get the sound of the pedals from the MIG50.
So it's up to the preference of the player, some people prefer the amp on its own, others like a base amp to build upon. I like to do both for an interesting mix.

Interesting. I understand you said you didn't read through the conversation but no one has quoted Freud. Why would it elicit such a powerful emotional response from you?

Unfortunately I'm going to have to bring our session to a close tonight, /gg/.

Try to think about the things we've discussed here. Many seemingly insurmountable problems are psychologically based, try to think about difficult situations in terms of motivations and expectations. Sometimes the things you're doing might not be as important as why you're doing them and what you're expecting the outcome to be.

In general Boss pedals are good utilitarian pedals. Very durable, straightforward effects that get the job done well. Except for their distortion pedals. They sound like ass to me.

Buy the Squier. Go to a store to find ine that plays nice and get it set up right. Spending lots of money on an electric guitar is retarded.
