>there are "people" on /mu/ who don't backup all their music on edison cylinder
>there are people on /mu/ who don't kidnap artists and force them to play their songs
>there are people who haven't programmed a random note generator with voice sythesizer and wait for it to reproduce their favorite songs
Bought an old Edison cylinder once
Shit literally exploded in my hand

how???

Took it out of the packaging and it shattered in an intense way. Didn't even apply pressure to it, was just sliding it out of the wrap.

Was anything important recorded on it? It seems like the type of thing that should only be handled by professionals.
Is there actually an active collectors market for cylinders or are they too old and rare?

Don't remember the specific recording but it was like $5 at a garage sale. Don't forget that even though they're old and a piece of history those things were mass produced back in the day and literally no one cared about them until the whole 'steampunk' thing came in.

Just look it up on ebay, the market's oversaturated and too many people assume they're worth $20+ a piece just because they're old
