No, it's an electric bass. It was intended to replace the four-string upright bass which has the same tuning. Except Leo Fender put frets on it so you could play with more precision. Hence the name Precision Bass.

M8 just use the internet and buy cheap music theory textbooks that are a year or two old. The only time you'll need a teacher is when a concept doesn't go through but most of the time you can find articles/videos on people breaking stuff down.
And really hit those textbooks up. I got a 2014/2015 edition book about music theory for 5 dollars from a used book store and it has taught me quite a bit.

Is the tweed amp on the right a Bassman reissue? Thems is quite cool
>>
>>71072863
I think people push more that different power tubes provide different (better to some folks) sounds, and that tubes like EL34, 6L6, KT66/77/88, 5881 all tend to put out higher wattages. I personally like the somewhat mushy low end that an EL34 based amp will produce when cranked.

Plus, even if your amp operates at a higher Wattage and is more loud than you care for when set how you like it, there's always attenuators. People say they fuck up your sound, but I really haven't been able to detect any difference between my amp turned up w/out it and cranked with the attenuator.

Basically just get an amp with a power section you like and then use other solutions to lower your volume if you want

Fujigen guitars tend to be decent, so if it's sth you can afford and really like then by all means go for it.
A pickup swap wouldn't do any harm, I remember a video from guitar techniques magazine in which they showed that a single HB guitar can cover a decent amount of ground if done properly. Get a nice HB and maybe wire a split, then you're good to go.

>>71076219
okay, obviously tone is subjective...but perhaps I could get some opinions before I spend hundreds of dollars on pedals????
>>
>>71076189
I have the terror and I always found that the built in drive was better than even my higher end overdrive pedals.

That said, it still sounds great when pushed with some medium overdrive or if you need to swap between clean and crunch. For reference, I used a BD-2 and an EQD Talons.

It's pretty easy to turn that amp into a mushy mess with higher gain pedals though.
>>
>>71076261
right now I have a TS9 and I'm looking at a Timmy. do you think these would be good at complementing the amp and allowing it to retain its natural distortion?
>>
>>71076254
Try them, dont like them, return them
>>
>>71076004
purple all day
>>
>>71076285
I mean the TS9 would obviously work. Just looked up the Timmy and that should be fine too. I mean they're overdrive pedals. Nothing too crazy. I wouldn't worry too much about it "coloring" your tone. If you use the pedal in moderation, the amp's tone will prevail. If you crank it, obviously the pedal will take over. Find something where you like both results.

I mostly used my Talons as a "gain channel" of sorts and I used my BD-2 to "push the amp" so to speak.

The tiny terror is super limiting options wise so I actually will be selling mine shortly.

I actually already bought a Fender Super Sonic 22 and a 2 x 12 Avatar cabinet.

Sounds fucking awesome. Now I've got an effects loop, 2 channels, an option for fattening the cleans, and built in reverb. All footswitchable.

I A/B'd it with my Terror through the same cab and found that the Super Sonic destroyed it in pretty much everything. Except maybe the highest gain settings.

It doesn't sound nearly as much like Jimi Hendrix when it's cranked though! The TT has it beat there lol. That's probably because of the Greenback in my combo though.

do people play rythm guitar by just remembering the rythm or do they count 1and2and3and4and..... in their head all the time

cause i cannot listen to a metrenome and count and remember the song all at the same time
im sure you train yourself to do it,
but im just curious what goes through your mind when keeping rythm

i can keep beat to the metronome

I do it by feel and by ear mostly. If a part is tricky I will slow it down a butt ton and pay close attention to the 1 e and a 2 e and a 3 e and a 4 e and a breakdown of it while trying to piece it together.

Honestly, i used to count in my head. It was a bad habit, especially if i counted a "seven" cuz 2 syllables. I asked a drummer what they did. "Counting the whole time? That's not gonna be any fun" You just gotta listen to what you're doing, and get a "feel" for where you are. It's hard at first especially if you were counting and it comes easier as you get used to not counting.
>>

What's wrong with my Tele? when the volume is at 10, it sounds mushy, quiet, and cleaner than it's supposed to (if my amp is overdriven). if I roll my volume down to 9-9.5ish, it's louder, more distorted (in a good way), and there's more high end. I feel like this is how it's supposed to sound at 10. what's wrong and how do I fix this?

I play the drums and find its easy to just go by the drums, so its like I'm subconsciously counting 1-2-3-4 without doing it.
So you can break that down anyway you want, the hi-hat ride is constant 8th notes and for simple beats you will at least have the snare or bass to go by.
It can be a bit loose at times but thats no big deal.

I just know at this point, i was just playing a show and we ended up going through the second verse of a song twice as long. No one called it out, it wasnt planned, but everyone stayed on the same page. Its most comfortable for people to hear things in 4s, 8s, 16s, etc. You hear it too, no one is going to end and transition on the 3rd time a pattern repeats because there's tension, it needs to repeat one more time to relieve that tension. There are obviously exceptions to this rule, there are a ton of songs that will have things repeat an odd number of times and either abruptly change or utilize a transistion for the last block, but even then listen for the tension.

The big thing is that unless youre performing solo there will be other people to play off of and read. Ive played with a lot of drummers that will accentuate the beat before a chord changes, and a lot of bassists will do similar things. If you have a singer it's pretty much impossible to get lost, they can suck but as long as theyre delivering the words (correct words, mostly on time) you'll be able to follow them.

One thing that kept us all in time when i was on drumline, always start marching with the left foot. Slighly nod your head left to right, youll know every other time you nod left you just started a new measure(at least in 4/4)

Pffft, that's nothing. I use rusty barbed wire for strings. Except the low E, i just have a piece of rebar. I tune it just like a regular string around the tuner tho cuz I'm so buff. Ya know how you replace guitar strings periodically because they stretch? Well the same thing happens to any metals. Even truss rods. That's why you need to adjust them every so often without the abuse of giant strings. Eventually, you'll get to the end and it wont anymore. But i guess at that point you'll want a new guitar anyway. So i guess it's whatever. But seriously tho, that shit will put unnecessary stress on your fingers and you'll regret it later in life, like much older gym nuts i know that can't stand up or lift a jug of milk without pain. Pretty big price to pay for insignificant increases in "tuning stability" and going on a weeb message board to talk shit. Just put on 9s or 10s and lie about it.

Okay I'm gonna get meme'd on for this but whatever.

Why does the bridge pick up in a Tele and Strat sound different? They're both 25.5", as far as I'm aware they both have bridges in the relatively same position. So what is it? Does the bigger body of the Tele really make that much difference?

How long will I have to practice to get as good as these guys? Not necessarily the songwriting just the musicianship. I figure they must have started when they were very young, I didn't start until my mid-teens.

Guitar in pic has duncans, has a somewhat pretty finish, and looks like an ebony fretboard. It looks either like a 1000 series, or even an E-II, not a low end LTD.
