It took a long time, but this album finally clicked for me and I think it's one of his best now. Has anyone else had difficulty getting into it? If it has keep trying

No, it was pretty immediate for me, unlike something like Age of Adz.
They're all perfectly structured pop songs. Everything is so cohesive and has just the right amount of detail, nothing's excessive or self-indulgent.
Immediate for me too, i loved Eugene at first listen
I like it musically but I don't get any feels from it like /mu/ said I would
i don't get how this album takes a while to click, no disrespect it's one of my favourite and most heart breaking albums ever, but surely it's not that hard to digest

Fake indie. Corporate puppet. Sad.

You gotta be in a mindset as pathetic as Sufjan's, that's why. Most people don't go that low but in the middle of winter when you haven't seen the sun for a while is your best chance.

Have your mom die then you'll get it
It was an eerily perfect album for me, it came out just as my life in Eugene was crashing down.

Age of Adz is the only Sufjan album that's held my attention for more than 15 minutes

it's got to be one of the most catharsis-conductive albums of the last decade

It's not heart to digest musically but I suppose I was just never in the right mood to let it set in.
I don't think it will ever click for me. I see it as his worst release. I wan't baroque pop from soof not elliot smith
