I have a little question about theory. I'm following this guy's guide and he started talking about intervals: https://www.studybass.com/lessons/intervals/basic-intervals/

When he names all those intervals, he is referring to the intervals on the ionian mode, right? I mean, the second, third, etc interval are not at the same distance, for example, in a dorian mode although the key is the same. A minor third would equal a major second in the dorian mode as far as I can understand.

Or am I mixing my shit?

Yes it is

>>71002055

So the band as a whole create a single note line? That's what a melody is. You're looking more for the word cossonance, sounds that are pleasing together. This is a better example of when cacophony can be pleasing.

what's the guitar in the dream spot?
>>
>>71003748
it absolutely sucks. It's already taken most of the mobility from my pinkies, but the worst part is just seeing all the progress of my 10+ years of playing just crumble before me. half the chords and scales i've relied on so heavily are almost impossible because of it, so now i'm stuck practically having to re-learn from scratch how to play around it.

I've always used a pick and i still have pretty good control with my right hand when using one, but my doctors tell me that learning and practicing to play with my fingers can really help.

>>
>>71002251
Playing songs is the best thing to do. It's really important to balance out the different things you do with an instrument you know? If anything you're going to level up and have new things to include in your play style!

Most of these threads tend to be full of low testosterone, 3-chord strumming alterna-cucks.

That may impress non musicians for a while, but any time someone with good legato or alternate picking shows up, you will be made invisible by comparison.

The only people who say that speed doesn't matter are those who cannot play fast. Fact.

Also: learn how to maintain your guitar without taking it to a repair man

And learn at least basic electronics, learn to solder, learn how pickups and pots and switches work. If you're feeling ambitious, learn how tubes andtransistors and chokes and transformers work and fix your amp yourself when it stops working. And buy a multimeter, they cost about the same as a tuner and save you a lot of hassle.

Greetings! I'm Rob Chapman. I'm a guitar player in sunny Guildford in England. I'm the founder of Chapman guitars and I play in a band called Dorje.

Please check out my brand new video on the new Dod Carcosa for some killer fuzz tones that will melt your face off!

I've always thought musicians were more impressed with how creative you can get with your fingers on guitar (slap, slide vibratos, double hand harmonic taps, unorthodox chord progressions) rather than just speed.

I've seen my fair share of rekt shredders getting owned by classical and jazz guitarists when improvising together, speed really doesn't matter
>>

keep doing your thing lad :)

So are MG69's known for going out of tune if you even think about using the tremolo arm or did I fuck up stringing my guitar?

Friendly reminder: the kiddies who post in /gg/ threads have nearly ***zero*** experience concerning guitar. Playing, repair, new player recommendations, etc. The average age in these threads is around early 20s: green as shit grass.

If you have an actual question this is probably one of the most uninformed & least knowledgeable places you could ever expect a proper answer to come from.

Be weary of any advice given here as it's amateur & perfunctory at best.

Have a nice day.

I always laugh when I see some dumb shit buy a cheap guitar and immediately start "upgrading" it. They usually start by asking for replacement pickup suggestions. It's like why, you dumb fuck? Why did you buy a guitar you didn't think sounded good to begin with? I'll tell you why: because you don't know what the fuck you're doing and you have no clue what the fuck you're after. You bought some retarded piece of shit because of how it looked in a picture on the internet and then when you got it home and actually played it ..it sounded and played like straight up ass. So you started "upgrading" it instead of admitting to yourself that you don't know shit and made a mistake, or that the guitars construction was so shitty that you didn't have any other choice but to "upgrade" it to make it a playable instrument. Here's the thing though: you could have just saved all the time and money you sank/wasted into "upgrading" a piece of shit and just bought a decent guitar to begin with. You bedroom warriors are a hilarious lot, watching you flail about trying to polish turds into diamonds. If a diamond is what you wanted why didn't you just go out and buy a diamond to begin with?

Because you're fucking stupid, that's why.

It just wasn't that comfortable to play, but it didn't have the regular bridge, but instead a tune-o-matic bridge.

Is this a work in progress? Sounds like it's missing a lead of some kind (vocals, guitar, whatever). Right now it just sounds like some royalty free background music a game review channel would use.
>>
>>71011104
yeah, still writing lyrics for it, I take ages to write words
>>
>>71010847
Why would i be mad? I dont own a fucked up special snowflake mudslime strat. Stay poor faggot
>>
>>71010965
Why you call it Baritone thing
Have you changed it since you first posted it?
Is that thing in the right side a guitar or a digital thing?
>>
>>71011152
Stereo is an illusion, its not really to your right dummy
>>
>>71011131
>he modified a cheap guitar, that means he's poor
What?
>>
>>71011152
It's played on a Boss GP-10 with string transpose, I dubbed a few analog synths over it with tempo-sync filter LFO
>>
>>71011187
lol yeah i dont even have two ears. i'm just schizo
>>
What's a good (preferably cheap) reverb pedal? I'm not looking for a delay, I just want something to make my tube amp sound a little less dry when I'm playing in dry-sounding rooms.

Also I've been tuning using a handheld pocket tuner for 15 years now, should I get a stompbox tuner or
>get flanger repaired
>buy octaver
I already have a fuzz, wah and phase shifter.
>>
>>71011193
Yet another stupid ass guitar player that can't read. Must be why you can't hold a regular job.
>>
>>71011330
Get the pedal tuner before anything else. Look at TC reverb pedals.
>>
>>71011330
The reverb pedal Alien Amps makes sounds good and is cheap
>>
>>71011330
what's the budget?

I love me TC Electronic's Hall of Fame, I think the nano version might do you some good and the Holy Grail Nano is a good second choice

when in doubt go with Boss, they got the RV-5 and Biyang Rv-10 3-mode Stereo Reverb is the most cost effective choice

high end choices would be found in this list
http://www.bestguitareffects.com/best-reverb-pedals/

good luck finding your right sound, anon
>>
is it really practising if i just mess around on the guitar without really playing anything
like go over some scales and improvise for 30 seconds at a time..
play the same chord patterns..
fuck around with harmonics..

what makes guitar practice worthwhile
>>
>>71011450
You're not really practicing, you're noodling.

Break out the metronome and work on something.
>>
>>71011384
Will do. Should I just get a cheapo pedal tuner or is there a point in shelling out the big bucks?

>>71011395
I'll look into it.

>>71011427
Thank you, that's a nice overview.
>>
>>71011450
sounds like youre just noodling around
>>

Bump. I would really like to know as I'm going to buy a new guitar. Preferably something with p90s
>>
recommend me a 4string passive bass under 800 bucks
>>
I need a bass for recording. Looking into Schecters and MIM Fenders or Squiers.

What's a good general use bass? Should basically be the most universal. Heard a lot about Fender P and J and such basses. Is the Squier Troy Sanders signature any good?

Advice! Quick!
>>
>>71011563
Just set your tone to 80s shred/glam and use the guitar not as a synthesizer but as a lead/chord support. Done. Thats how Carpenter Brut do it.

uhh duh wtf. choose the p-bass.

Day 2 of trying to play guitar like piano.

My pinky hurts too much to continue. Will try again tomorrow.

This still retarded.
>>
>>71011563
I like putting wah in a stationary position and put overdrive pedal after it. In my experience it doesn't work well on dirty channel and would probably be better with a fuzz, but I don't have the budget expand my collection. Just play with it in general, don't forget about the EQ on amp, it may change the sound more than you think it would.
>>
>>71011644
DUBS DUBS DUBS

also Squire has made decently good basses
>>
>>71011609
I have a Squire Jaguar bass and I dig the versatility of it, can go to a P bass sound to a Jazz because of the pick ups. Speaking of the pick ups, they're not amazing per say because what your paying is what your getting. I happen to find the decent and fair but you can always buy some the other picks to get the tone you want. See it more like a starting point.

the Troy Sanders looks fucking nice tho

a new section in e minor would be like a new Bouree
>>
when they say tuned half a step down.. it's literally just each string tuned one fret down yes?
>>
>>71011673
>Squire

fucking hell, we ebay now
>>
>>71011868
Yeah, that's what a half-step means. Your open 6th string is now an E flat (Eb) instead of E. The first fret is E. And so on and so forth.

helps to know the fretboard, phrasing etc
