In the manga she suggests listening to new age relaxation music, but it was probably sarcastic because she's the kind of thrill-seeking hothead who would hate it. I figure something more fun like synthrock/EBM/new wave would be more her speed.
I can totally see her movie version enjoying new age relaxation music, though, seeing how obsessed with cheap sublime aesthetics she is. Either that or darkwave.
As for the SAC version, she doesn't seem to have any interest in anything other than guns. So I guess she'd just listen to gunshots on her free time.

autechre and IDM are for pseudo-intellectual limpdicks who want to bang college girls but can't.
Not for no-nonsense robocops who bang cyborg nurses on a weekly basis.
There's more futuristic music than just IDM you know.

>>70954070
She's a 90s cyborg. So she listens to ae and IDM.
That's my point.
>>70954074
>Anything of Digital Hardcore Records
Hell no.
The perps she shoots at totally would tho.
>>70954070
what do you think is futuristic then?
>>70954070
>implying IDM is nonsense
Do you even postmodern?
>>70954101
Meh, she's a 2000s cyborg who shoots guns, maybe she'd enjoy Autechre's more drum n bass stuff but without giving a shit about the technical aspects of it.
>>70954220
She's highly energetic.
Why would she listen to equally energetic music?
>>70954118
There are shitloads of other genres of music that sound futuristic.
Let's say EBM and all industrial-derived genres for example.
Or basically all techno-derived genres.
IDM only accounts for a small niche of futuristic music.
>>70954074
Tim Hecker (specifically Mirages)
>>70954243
>highly energetic
not in the series. In the series she's TOUGH.
>Why would she listen to equally energetic music?
cause anything too calm would bore her I guess?
but then again she's also a bit autistic so maybe she'd like it. The issue is that you have to be *interested* in electronic music to get into IDM, instead of just enjoying it.
>>70954264
Ok, I asked that because futuristic shit is my fetish. I thought you would give me some more insight.
Yes, EBM and techno are pretty cool. I know very little about the broad "industrial" tag though. I still think IDM is the most futuristic music there is, even if it's from 20 years ago and heard by old audiophile balding single men.

There's no particular insight to be had about that. The vast majority of popular electronic music has a futuristic aesthetic and so do some rock/metal subgenres.
Anyway if you like GitS and futuristic shit you MIGHT like cyber metal. Most of it is total horseshit, but it totally has that cyber-gothic existentialist appeal. But it's also very theatrical and melodramatic. I can give you recs for that.

yeah.
Alright so start with
- Tyrant of Death - The Ion Legacy (instrumental, harder, almost explicitly inspired by GitS)
Neurotech - Blue Screen Planet (very melodic, softer, leaning towards trance) and
The Kovenant - Animatronic (very dramatic, symphonic elements, screechy vocals)
If you liked Tyrant of Death listen to ID:Vision, Mechina and Sybreed.
If you liked Neurotech listen to the rest of his discography, then Herrschaft, then Illidiance
If you liked The Kovenant listen to Ensoph, T3chn0ph0b14, and then maybe veer into industrial black metal.
>>70954717
thanks.
Am I the only one who doesn't agree with these threads at all? I feel like 90% of characters would just listen to popular shit like old 70's rock bands or songs universally hailed as good, not random obscure shit or niche bands

The film incarnation doesn't seem the type to listen to music.
The SAC incarnation probably listens to some sort of relaxing kind of music.
The manga incarnation probably listens to dream/synth stuff to juxtapose her high energy life.
>>70953840
>she doesn't seem to have any interest in anything other than guns
She's interested in AI, films, guns, politics, some other stuff.
>>70955072
Movie Motoko should listen to music, it'd make her less gloomy.
So you think manga Motoko really does listen to new age relaxation music? Seeing how she uses the cherry blossom ceremony as an excuse to drink sake with her team, and how her vacations are spent having cybersex, I still kinda doubt that.
>>70955143
Cybersex and going drinking is stuff you do with friends. I made the post with the mindset of "what would she listen to when she's alone."
>>70955143
Not that anon, but it'd be hard to pin what Genkitoko would listen to, I imagine.
