>p4k jizzes over MPP
>mu:"omg this album is so epic! I cried when I first heard In The Flowers omg 'If I can just leave my body for the night' so epic XDDD"
>p4k pans PW
>mu:"wow this sucks, I hate it. I mean I can't actually explain why I hate it (p4k didn't give me a good explanation), but I just do!"
Can someone please explain why this album, the pinnacle of modern pop, was panned by all the fuckboys on /mu/?

its just worse than their previous albums, simple as that. too many fart noises and weird geo samples, also them singing back and forth was too gimmicky, and distracts from the melodies and lyrics

disagree on the sounds/production but yeah the second half of your post is correct. the melodies just aren't as good. they overuse the back and forth thing, and it's not even impressive vocal acrobatics like some people say. a lot of it is literally just a delay effect that panda used on pbmtgr. i actually really liked the samples, beats, synths, etc on this album though. it's not terrible, especially when compared to mpp. put it alongside spirit, sung tongs, feels, and it doesn't even look like they're trying to make a great, ambitious album, but mpp wasn't that type of album either. it just had great pop tunes and some big moments unlike painting with.

Because 95% of MPP was amazing while PW has only TWO great tracks, FIVE good tracks and FIVE of the worst tracks they've ever recorded.

The first couple of days after it leaked the reception here was pretty positive. It was only after p4k and fantano's review that it started getting all the hate here.

nah I like PW, great songs that are short and catchy (kinda the point of the album btw). Nice simple pop songs with the AnCo soundscape. I actually bought it and it's in my car right now. Even went to see them on their PW tour when they were in Hollywood. MPP is good yeah but a bit overrated imo, and I like Daily Routine the most on that album.

>the reception here was pretty positive
it really wasn't - i mean a few people seemed to enjoy it but it was thought to be pretty universally mediocre here

It's just Centipede Hz without the production that made made that album so exhilirating.

sounds nothing like CHz friendo, as The Deak wasn't there this time around to give the album his magic touch

Stop making threads about Pitchfork already.
Its too barebones
