The bullshit they offer in america is too tailored for the tasteless metal crowd.

>>70874567
Not an argument. All guitars are overpriced seeing as they are just shiny pieces of wood.
>>
>>70874489
Most of the guitars in the world are made in the same 5-10 factories, in Korea,China,Japan,Indonesia, Mexico. Most of their guitars are great if you spend over $1000 from any brand. Reverend,Peerless, D'angelico are some good Korean made guitars. Like always you get what you pay for...

Eastman is good if you like semi-hollows and archtops. I think they're kind of in their own league, the finishes on their guitars are better than Gibson imo.
>>
>>70874579
I mean, they're quality construction. Mostly solid neck through stuff that looks really good. Lots of ugly meme guitars, but generally good.

Compare that to Fender which just screws some planks together as cheaply as possible essentially and slaps their logo on it so people will pay 1000+ or whatever they ask for them. And people will pay for that shit because >muh Fender

>>
>>70876176
Yeah, that's not a junk guitar. Trouble is there's three kinds of acoustic pickup, the undersaddle ones take a lot of work to install and the magnetic type don't always give you a good acoustic sound. The ones that are based on a microphone that sits over the soundhole work really well but they can be extremely expensive.

Stops a lot of feedback. You really want to get a soundhole block if you're playing acoustic on stage.

And never mic the soundhole, it'll boom like crazy. Best mic place for acoustic is usually right over where the neck joins the body.

This is how fucking stupid you sound. Why the hell wouldn't someone worry about if putting something that is fucking magnetic right next to their pickups will effect the pickups? You understand how pickups convert the vibrations of the magnetic metals in your strings to a signally that your amp makes it's sound from right?
>>
>>70876800
Go ahead, put pickup rings made out of nickle on your guitar. Even better don't ground them. I'll wait.
>>
>>70876889
Perhaps you're not familiar with Faraday's law of induction.

The induced electromotive force in any closed circuit is equal to the negative of the time rate of change of the magnetic flux enclosed by the circuit.

CHANGE OF magnetic flux. That means the magnetic body has to be moving in a magnetic field to inducve a current in the conductor. No movement = no affect on the voltage.

Depends like you said. On humbuckers it would be there but not a very good connection. On teles people have grounded their pickup rings to avoid this issue.

Pickup covers are soldered to the base plate of the pickup on humbuckers yet you can still hear the change.

>>70877044
Who said anything about inducting a current. It changes the field changing the way the field interacts with the strings. It's why there is a change in tone from pickup covers despite the pick up cover not moving. No one is talking about the rings generating sound themselves besides you.

Luckily for us we have brass pick up rings that can be plated with other materials like nickle and chrome so we don't have to deal with this shit.
>>
>>70877261
>I can hear the difference when I put metal pickup rings on a guitar

No. You can't.
>>
>>70877103
You can literally change how your pickups sound by putting magnetic metals around them. This is why you can change the tone of your pickups with metal pickup covers.
>>
>>70877269
>magnetic metals don't effect magnetic fields
>>
>>70877232
then take it and put it on a fret, any fret.

and just write songs about typical cuckery bullshit. you'll have everyone eating out of your hands.
>>
>>70877289
>I can hear the difference when I put metal pickup rings on a guitar
No. You can't.

Just say it. Say you can't hear any difference with a metal pickup ring compared to a plastic one. No one will think badly of you. Just say you can't hear any difference between steel and breass and rubidium and copper and magnesium. Just say it. You'll feel better. No one else can. So it doesn't matter if you just say you can't hear the difference.
>>
>>70877269
There is a reason metal pickup rings are made out of certain metals and not other metals. There is also a reason that strings are made out of certain metals and not other metals.
And there is also a reason there is a limited overlap with this metals such as nickle only being plated onto pick up rings.
>>
>>70877343
So ... you can hear the difference? Really? What does nickel sound like compared to say brass or aluminum?

neo folk music is all about the words and not about the music.

it's why you see truly talented players stuck busking in the street playing other people's songs for pennies and every whiny 17 year old cunt with three chords a song book about how the government sucks/police are racist/gays and trannies don't have equal rights/corporate CEOs are greedy jews are hailed as the next Bob Dylan.

just write what you know other people want to hear and strum your little three chords in whatever key you stuck your capo that day and people are going to flock to you.

or you can do what any real guitar player does is sit down and take the time to learn the instrument, and practice actual songwriting, and maybe you'll one day find yourself in a band or at least a place to record some quality songs that everyone is going to ignore because they have to dig past the surface to understand what you're actually trying to say.

>>

Are you an honest to god retard anon?
>>
>>70877521
Well this forum is to help educate people about guitar stuff, I'm sure plenty of other people would love to know how to improve the sound of their guitar by changing to a different-sounding pickup ring metal.

This is all new to me, I just googled "different pickup rings sound different" but there was no inforrmation, I guess you must have really great hearing. I might bring out a line of ToneRings" so people can really customize their sound with different metal pickup rings.
>>
>>70877535
Well, I just want to know, is there more treble or more bass with metal or plastic? How exactly does it change the tone? Really, I googled and I just can't find this information.
>>
>>70877563
>>70877580
Samefagging isn't going to help your dumbass.

I've already posted a video showing you how a magnetic metal being next to a pickup effects it's tone. I never once said that all metals effect the tone I said that magnetic materials do to a lesser extent that they do with pickup covers. Nor did I ever once claim that different magnetic materials will effect the field differently.

The effect of magnetic materials on magnets is something you should have learned in grade school. Your own stupidity and inability to understand the most basic science if your own problem.

>That's a pretty garbage argument, no matter how good you are at taking care of your own shit accidents can happen.

The garbage argument is that you shouldn't buy quality shit just because accidents can happen.

The point is that if you're responsible with your gear then it shouldn't be an issue, and if an accident does happen that doesn't make the purchase a mistake. I'm not gonna lie to myself and say that buying an Epiphone was the right move because it's so much cheaper and I'm bound to break it anyway.

You make some good points there.

But Gibson headstocks do break off all the time. It's a known fact.

The USA and the tribue G&Ls use the same parts. They are just assembled in a different countries. But the USA models are very well built so I would still recommend them. The indonesian ones have a worse resale vale.

I never said you shouldn't buy a quality guitar Im saying you shouldn't spend that much for a fuckin gibson when you can get the performance you need if you upgrade what you already have

>>70878899

what's that even supposed to mean.
>>
>>70878874
brandfags are so delusional
i've met so many great guitarists playing cheap guitars and so many hobbyists hoarding expensive gear for no good fucking reason

Fun fact: Billy Gibbons has taken Pearly Gates around the world several times and never managed to break the headstock. He toured with that Les Paul for almost 30 years.

Headstock breaks on Gibsons are only a problem for retards.

All you poorfags can cry really hard now.

7 Strats guy here. Not a poorfag, just saying.

I've got nothing against Gibsons, they make some beautiful guitars and obviously, if you've got the disposable and that's what you want then no one in the world can tell you what not to buy. I know this and you know this. The only reason I don't own a Gibson is I grew up playing Strats and Teles and my playing style has evolved around Strats and Teles. Horses for courses, use whatever guitar suits whatever music you play.

But I do find myself looking at the 2017 Gibsons and thinking hmmm ... one of those would be a nice change. Have you played any of the recent Les Pauls? Any quality issues with them? Pickups ok? Headstocks glued on properly?

(that was a joke, don't get mad at me)

I'm considering buying a 2nd Strat (actually a Partcaster)
Do you enjoy playing different Strat?
Or do you just feel like just collecting?
(as for myself, I'll keep one with "vintage" pickups, and the other will be a super strat)

I've got a few new ones but the ones with real character are the ones from the 1980s, when they started up again and made the early US Standards. MIJ are pretty good too once you hack them about a bit. Mine are all very different, mix of Seymour Duncans, Bare Knuckles, stock Fenders, Fat 50s, Shawbuckers so there's a lot of tonal variation. Each has its own particular use.

If I had to let any go, it's be the three most recent ones. Not as much character to them. And if the house burned down, I'd run in for the 1987 Strat then go back for the Tele.

Those always remind me of those 1960s Jap guitars with all the built in effects. Too many switches and knobs for me.
>>
>>70879010
Why do you bother defending the brand?
Gibsons headstocks break that's a design flaw common enough to give it a reputation.

I think the guitar sounds awesome but the price is out of any normal mans affordable range.

You can get something that sounds great for much less that doesn't have to be a meme guitar.
