everything to do with nadine
everything to do with sawmill
everything to do with the middle of season 2

apart from that, it's purfect
>>
>>70746806
What are you talking about
Season 2 of Twin Peaks was a mess, especially after episode 6-7? Can't quite remember which one exactly, but it was right after the killer was revealed. The following 10 episodes or so were horrible.

Six Feet Under was never atrocious. Season 4 was a little patchy and Season 3 was so depressing it was almost hard to watch, but it was never bad.

So you say every time we have this conversation
>>
>>70746892
So you're claiming that the second half of season 2 was horrible? Absolutely not. The last two episodes are two of the best episodes of television ever made.
>>70746870
I will admit, the James guitar ballad scene was bad. Nadine was pure comic relief that reinforced the surreal world that they lived in. The sawmill plotline was a little iffy but not that bad. The middle of season 2 really was not that bad at all. Ben Horne thinking he was in the civil war was comedy gold yet oddly very touching, and Audrey actually coming into her role as a leader was good character development.
>>
>>70747015
It picked up after episode 17 or 18, I think. The finale was indeed great.
But season 2 had a lot of shitty, uninteresting episodes.
>>
The sawmill plot was very erotic, and james' noir fling partner was enjoyable
The second series upto and post Leyland braining himself was starting to let the characters tick over with their own lives. The Wyndham Earl backdrop was a bit horned in but still gave stand out moments such as the major having his brain fried and of course setup the next series presumably

Glad they got a dance routine in, Lucy was wonderful

>>

>james' noir fling partner was enjoyable
That was the worst part of the show for me. I was cringing through the whole thing.
James is general was just awful. They tried for a cool but sensitive character but he just came off as a retard.
The subplot with Ben Horne being Donna's real dad was shit too. Completely unnecessary asinine soap opera bullshit.
I did greatly enjoy Confederate Ben Horne and Andy and Dick's antics though. Having Billy Zane starring as Billy Zane in Billy Zane for a few episodes was fun too but it was obvious Cooper was the intended romance partner and that it was cut. We had a season and a half of buildup for that.
>>
>>70747306
>obvious Cooper was the intended
I never knew this but recently read he had a fling on set that complicated things.

Ben Donna plot, well it's where it was becoming a show that could be tuned into to enjoy the setting and the style and the people trapped inside of it.
Which was echoed in the TV serial lucy was watching if I remember correct

Anyway. When's the day delivery coming out
>>
>>70747306
even the movie acknowledged how lame James as, even Laura Palmer said he was boring, but I think that was the point of his character, practically the opposite of Bobby in every way and is a good grounding for Laura and Donna later on who after Laura died might have went off the rails without him
>>

>>70747899
yeah James was sort of making fun of the tough guy with a heart of gold trope that was common in soap operas at the time.
>>

>>70748469
Bobby wasn't funny James was mysterious
>>
>>70747179
AHAHAHAHAHAH holy fuck
>>
>>70748469
I wonder to what degree the satirical tropes helped to kill the show. other than the budget being huge, i don't think supporting characters like james or donna or maddy or catherine or harry had nearly enough depth built in to sustain the show's evil and romantic allure.

but then again i'm not a tv writer. Fire Walk With Me didn't seem to indicate there was much left in the tank anyway.

hopefully 25 years of sitting on the show's strengths and weaknesses results in a solid comeback.

sawmill plot was not that interesting, nadine was shit, lucy's pregnancy was annoying and awful (dick tremayne was top tier though), coop the cuck canning the planned romance with audrey because donna was gonna give him blue balls if he didn't, a lot of shit could have gone better

>>
The network fucked up the show. It was on goddamn ABC.
They made leland be revealed and killed way sooner than Lynch wouldve liked to.
And they brought in Billy Zane and Rollergirl to stop the coop audrey relationship which wasnt family oriented.
This show is way better than HBO shows even without the licence to show anything they want.
No one else could create such a hilarious, touching, and truly frightening show except David Lynch. Badalamenti just seals the deal.
>>
>>70758955
Not only that, but the man almost singlehandedly revolutionized TV shows. He made a complex story which over arched throughout the whole series. Until Twin Peaks, that didn't happen and TV shows were fairly simplistic.
>>

How exactly is he a hack? I don't approve of his collaborations with U2 and Coldplay though and I'm a fan of his.
>>
>>70759831
I like his music too, but I saw him at an artist talk that he did with Laurie Anderson last year, that swayed my opinion of him.
I had expected the talk to be about music, but instead it was just pseudo-philosophic anecdotes about their cool, hip New York artist life.

And then he said that the Velvet Underground were better than Bach because Bach is just math music.
Like wtf, how can an adult MUSICIAN actually say something so informed?
And that was the day I realized he was a hack

>>70760000
>Talking about New York undermines your strengths as a musician
All right...
>Bach made math music
I haven't watched that particular interview, but Zappa also said that classical music is the same as top 40 music and that it's formulaic. I know that Zappa wasn't serious about that statement, but I'm not sure if people who are not musicians or familiar with music history would feel the same way. I'd say that Brian Eno wasn't being serious either. Schoenberg and Webern were ostracized too, because their classical music didn't sound cheerful and happy or tonal at all. And Schoenberg later went on to develop his system of constructing atonal music called "twelve-tone serialism". There are no implicit rules in music, because of the mere fact that so called rebels and degenerates like Schoenberg and Webern got recognized for their contributions.
