This album has the best guitar work I've ever heard. Thoughts on it overall?

You must have never listened to Buckethead or Jason Becker or Tony MacAlpine. Or many other records.

That's kinda sad, OP.

Those guys are pretty limited both from their classical/jazz influence perspectives (limited in chord progressions, modulations, techniques, rhythms) and their rock/metal influence perspectives (riffs that lack visceral intensity). They aren't really good at anything.

It's definitely a good record, people actually taking the "muh entry level" meme seriously be damned.
Can we talk about how much the remaster sucks? How the fuck did they fuck it up so bad, the drums sound like trashcans. The worst thing is that it's the only version available on streaming services. People who hear about how great the album is will listen to it on their streaming service the first time and think it sucks just because of the horrible remaster.

The more Megadeth you listen to, the more you realize how few ideas Mustaine had in terms of lead guitar phrasing. Friedman does all the best stuff on it. Still great stuff riff-wise though.

Well, as bad as it is, I honestly don't think it ruins the album. The original is definitely better, but that doesn't make the remaster complete trash, at least not in my opinion
I have just listened to polaris from that album and i can say only drums arent fucked up here.
