Like him or not, him, the rest of G-Unit, and Wayne were juggernauts at that time, and the singles off that album were rap anthems and club staples for a very long time, plus it's a great example of 2001-era Dre production. It's essential for that time period.

>>
>>70662849
808s and heartbreak is a massively influential album and no one will deny it and it should be recorded with the best.

souljaboytellem was semi ironic but there is a case for ringtone rap having its place in the hip hop canon and that is the peak of ringtone rap.
>>
>>70662906
>808s and heartbreak is a massively influential album
That's fucking dandy.
It wasn't a rap album. This is a chart for rap and instrumental hip hop, not R&B. Same reason C.O. by Frank didn't go on the 2010s chart.

And Soulja Boy was flat out garbage and I'm not having that on the chart.
>>
>>70662849
dog 808s and heartbreak is a classic

im assuming they meant isouljaboytellem and not soulja boy tell em, isouljaboytellem had slappers too, turn my swag on, gucci bandana, kiss me thru the phone, shoppin spree
>>
>>
2001
ludacris word of mouf
jadakiss kiss the game goodnight
cunnilyngust will rap for food

and there is no way you can talk about 03 without diplomatic immunity that album is one of the most underrated cultural staples in hip hop. replace one of the doom projects with that, this is a solid list but a little too far leaning on rappity rap rap yaknow
>>
>>70662954
>dog 808s and heartbreak is a classic
And it's also. Not. A rap album.

Even if I fucking loved the album from the bottom of my heart it's not rap. Again. Same reason I didn't put Frank in the 2010s chart even though that was an album I loved.
>>
>>70662977
>diplomatic immunity

backed hard, that's a classic

i'd replace king geedorah with it myself
>>
>>70662954
yup isouljaboytellup thats what i meant

also OP 808s was the an early work of melodic rap music, its definetly rooted in hip hop, and even elctro-pop before r&b. 808s is in the same vein as young thug, yachty, or any of the other completely sung rap albums that DID make the 10s list. the production was completely hip hop, whereas frank was much closer to classic r&b rather than rooted in rap music. 808s shifted hip hop and not including it would be ludicrous
>>
>>70662977
Adding all of those.

>>70663022
>I'd replace King Keedorah
You're on crystal meth I'm not doing that.
>>
>>70662981
hip hop isnt just rapping

is the miseducation of lauryn hill a hip hop album?
is the love below a hip hop album?

808s followed that trend and took it to the next level, the first rapless hip hop album to be as big as it was
>>
>>70663039
especially future and drake too

it pretty much set the blueprint for 2010s hip hop
>>
>>70663095
>is the miseducation of lauryn hill a hip hop album?
Yes. And it had rapping on it.

>is the love below a hip hop album?
Yes, and it had rapping on it.

808s, whether a bad album or not, is not a rap album. I am not including it. It would stick out horribly.
>>
>>70663056
not him but take vaudeville villain and king geedorah and mix them into one spot. diplomatic immunity is 2003 hip hop. doom is one of the greatest but he doesnt capture the culture the way dipset did at that time if you want an accurate or even semi educational list diplomatic immunity has to be included
>>
>>70663120
>especially future and drake too
But both of those had fucking rapping! 808s didn't. How the hell did you miss that point 3 times? Christ...
>>
>>70663056
man, Diplomatic Immunity has fucking Dipset Anthem on it

replace something else if you want to but Diplomatic Immunity absolutely has to be on this list
>>
>>70663165
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fmmy2EVwC74

no rapping here no sirree
>>
>>70663139
thats because it was one of the most ahead of its time projects and it didnt fit in at the time, but years later we see just how fucking important it is to music.

young jeezy & lil wayne both rap on 808s?
heartless is rapping for sure
and you could make an argument that kanye is "rapping" in the same way thug does on lots of those songs. i sense you might have a personal aversion to 808s but if a good chart has to include it
>>
>>70663180
Putting on Diplomatic Immunity wasn't the problem, removing Geedorah was. I'll put it in don't worry.
>>
>>70663204
>>70663220
Fine, stan. Well settle it this way even though it's not a god damn rap album and you wanna ruin my chart with it.
http://www.strawpoll.me/12220102

If 'yes' wins, I'll put it on despite it fitting terribly. Ok? Ok.
>>
>>70663225

We got the full chart boys!
>>
>>70664305
now what?
>>
>>70664322
A: We check for any improvements/changes we can make.

And then afterwards I save it to my topsters profile.

And then after a short break I think we're gonna do the 90s chart.
>>
>>70664305

I don't take you seriously anymore.

>>70664350
>>70664357
Thanks.

>>70664366
What should I replace it with?
>>
>>70664366
dont listen to this guy cudi is essential for raps evolution into the tens even though hes a cornball and makes cringe music more often than not. MOTM is a genre staple
>>
>>70664346
i'd rec

- Extended Famm - Happy Fuck You Songs
+ Gang Starr - The Ownerz

anyone else with me?
>>
>>70664380
see >>70664241

also where's 808s & Heartbreak?
>>
>>70664241
bumping
>>
>>70664417
I ended up getting better suggestions.
I'm sure I can put in one of your 09 suggestions somewhere.
>>
>>70664380
nigga i posted that long as fuck list of albums in the thread yesterday and constantly was recommending albums throughout that thread and both of these charts suck, you cant say i didnt do jack shit
>>
>>70664486
>you cant say i didnt do jack shit
But I can say you're condescending and bitchy as shit and negative for no damn reason.

You're the ONE guy getting this pissy about this and you need to calm down.
>>
>>70664460
you're pitching a shitfit over people being allegedly rude to you and then ignoring people making constructive recommendations itt
>>
>>70664513
>>70664486
A. Same guy.
B. Yeah you're being pretty bitchy, again, calm down.
C. I let him down easy sand even said I would take one of his suggestions.
D. I gave my reasoning to why I wouldn't include 808s
E. Get over yourself.
>>
>>70664539
multiple people, actually
>>
>>70664557
Mhm...
>>
>>70664539
i was the first guy to reccomend 808s and there was at least one other poster asking for it. its whatever you made the list i made my argument for it in the end you get the final descision
>>
>>70664578
you do you dog just doing my part to try and help this be a list of hip hop that people actually listen to
>>
>>70664645
I never said there wasn't more than guy asking for 808s. That wasn't my problem.
My problem is the one bitchy negative asshole saying 'Everyone's picks for the chart sucks but mine'.

He was nagging the 2010 thread too and he's easily one of the most obnoxious posters I've ever met on this thread.

I'm sick of him, frankly. But that's not the point. What were the end results of the poll? I'll keep my promise if it ended up being higher.
>>
>>70664682
Yeah let me guess YOUR choices are the right ones and not other peoples? Where's that 10s chart you promised would be 'so much better' that you said you'd make?
>>
>>70664699
>http://www.strawpoll.me/12220102
6-2 yes.
i didnt mean to stan on you this is just a great comprehensive list otherwise and would feel so incomplete without it.

also
>>70664241
>>
>>70664717
i don't know because i'm not this person you keep replying to and talking about
>>
>>70664779
>this is just a great comprehensive list otherwise and would feel so incomplete without it.
Well I appreciate that.
A promise is a promise. I'll add it in somehwere.

>>70664787
I definitely believe you. Mhm..
>>
>>70664819
ok dude, i was in the 2010s thread giving friendly feedback and complimenting your work but let your persecution complex do what it will
>>
>>70664869
Yeah you 'both' type the same and you 'both' have been complaining for the end of this thread but you 'both' are definitely different people.
>>
>>70663675
replace Lil Boat with Floss and its not a shit chart
>>
Bumping. Making a few more edits and then I'm probably gonna move on to the 90s hip hop chart.

(Which I look forward to, that will be fun)

Now now there's still time to change things...
Just say what to replace and I'll put it back..

(I only included 808s to be nice to the other Anon)

>>70665711
Fuck yeah I didn't that album is great. 9th wonder is one of the best producers out there.
>>
>>70665726
replace it with man on the moon
it's a good album you fucking fag
>>
>>70665762
>it's a good album you fucking fag
Well that's just unnecessarily hostile.

But ok, if you're sure...
>>
>>70665762
when i posted that i realized that MotM came out in 2009
still, replace it with it anyways to piss off losers
>>
>>70665523
Could replace tonedeff/already platinum/let the truth be told with monkey barz
>>
>>70665794

...No? I'm not 'replacing something' just to piss people off.

>>70665821
Yes I can do that.
>>
>>70665726
replace it with Heltah Skeltah - DIRT

Like I said I only added it to make the one anon happy.

I honestly fucking hate 808s too. I'm tempted to replace it.
>>
>>70665858
is the blank space instead of 808s intentional? if so 10/10 bantz
>>
>>70665884
yo cunninlynguists is on 2001 twice

i suggest Project Pat - Mista Don't Play as a replacement
>>
>>70665922
SON OF A-...
Nononono, that was an accident my bad.
I had an album there it just wasn't placed.

What I NEED is an 808s replacement. (since it's been decided it doesn't belong)
>>
>>70665976
>>70665827
>>
>>70665976
oh cold vein. good call, i dont know why i didnt think of that

how about we just meet in the middle and decide to keep 808s

>>70666104
lord willin you cuck
>>
>>70666104
i don't know if you just don't have any taste or if you're just a bigot but there's no fucking reason for you to put Wale, Sean price, Gucci Mane and J Dilla thrice(donuts is the only relevant one)
>>
>>70666175
>Doesn't say what to replace
You had your chance....
>>
>>70666104
90's will be a fucking battlefield
Should maybe split it into one 90's east coast one west coast
>>
>>70666225
>one east coast
>one west coast
>>
>>70666220
Did you miss the whole 'I'm not choosing the albums' thing??
Learn to read.

>>70666225
I'll start off with one but if it gets to a certain point I'll split it off (which will suck because I wanna include OutKast)
>>
>>70666225
but what about the midwest and the south
>>
>>70666338
>>70666271
could have a third one for non coast shit
i could easily fill an east coast 90's up and still feel like it's missing things
>>
I would like to nominate a few of my favorites:

2000: Common - Like Water For Chocolate
20006: Edan - Beauty & the Beat

Kinda dissapointed these (my hip-hop favorites of last decade) were left off an otherwise pretty good chart
>>
>>70666366
>2000: Common - Like Water For Chocolate
>20006: Edan - Beauty & the Beat
....Fuck.

I wanna add those but I don't know what to replace.

I'm thinking 7L for 06 but not sure what for 00.
>>
>>70666366
>>70666408
WAIT it was released in 05
>>
>>70666433
no it was released in 20006
>>
>>70663675
why does every year have an 's' after it?
>>
>>70666454
kek
>>
>>70666408
I would say Ludacris, Snoopy, and Nas are pretty okay to cut out unless anyone else objects
>>
>>70666500
It was released in 05 the other anon lied to me.
I fixed it anyway.

Now what to replace in the 00s for Chocolate?
>>
>>70666512
Probably Ludacris or Aesop (only suggesting because Labor days is pretty superior but from the year after)
>>
>>70666612
Welp! Finished!

90s thread starting soon!
>>
>>70666698
Nice, sounds fun!
