>meet somebody who says he's into jazz

>"have you ever head of Kamasi Washington?"
>mfw
>mentally belittle someone for not liking the right music
>realize that this type of thinking has managed to kill off both classical music and jazz in a single lifetime
>meet somebody who says he's into metal
>ask what artists he likes
>"have you ever heard of Boris?"
>mfw
>at a record store

>le kamasi washington is bad meme
fuck you go jerk off to shitty jtg reviews some more
>>70593263
But Miles Davis is good.
>>70593275
i bet you think Death Grips is innovative
>>70593263
>at a record store
>browsing the jazz section
>only other person in the jazz section is buying 6 new vinyl reissues of sun ra albums for $35 dollars each
>>70593275
More like
>normalfags only know kamasi washington
I dont think that op meant that kamasi is bad.
I'm betting I can convince people Tyler, the Creator went into jazz by showing them pictures of Lee Morgan
>>70593146
>talking to random sperg at party
>topic of music comes up
>condescendingly talking about how he's into "superior" music like classical and jazz
>mention I like some jazz, ask him if he's heard of Kamasi Washington
>suddenly incomprehensible screeching

Miles Davis has the most aesthetic album covers to browse.
I don't think I've ever seen anybody actually talk about why they like the epic. The argument always seems to just be "if you don't like it you're an elitist contrarian autist."
>>70593482
it's a good album, what more needs to be said to please you?
>>70593507
What makes it good compared to the much more creative shit that saxophonists like Mats Gustaffson, Rudresh Mahanthappa, or Steve Lehman are putting out?
>>70593551
why is any of that relevant to it being a good album? It can still be a good album without regards to the artists you mentioned
>>70593562
if this was an essay you would have gotten an F
try graduating high school my man
DID SOMEBODY SAY /JAZZ/?
>>70593579
this isn't an essay though, this is 4chan
can you please answer my primary question as to why it needs to be anything more than "it's a good album?" It seems like you're dodging around that for some reason
>>70593562
But the fact is it's not. Kamasi is a boring soloist who only uses a few scales in his solos. The compositions are boring rip offs of 60's and 70's jazz like Coltrane and Pharoah except for the ones that are terrible pop jazz with vocals. And the album is way too long considering that none of the soloists are much better than Kamasi.
Try and refute any of that without just resorting to calling me names.
