It's because they're rich kids from Brooklyn and they wear their influences on their sleeves.

I've heard them called rip offs of The Cure, The Smashing Pumpkins, Jesus and Mary Chain, Rocketship, My Bloody Valentine, etc etc etc

Whatever, I don't care.

They write good songs and their first two albums have a lot of replayability.

I guess lyrically it just speaks to me way more at the moment. Massive feels, especially "The Asp at my chest"
