Manzarek's keyboard work for one thing. But even though Morrison was mostly just giving ramblings, he provided a suitably imaginative weird skeleton for the band to build off of and explore. His vocals could be pretty good, too, namely on LA Woman (which I think is their best).

They're not a favorite band for me like they were when I was 16 or whatever but there's still plenty to appreciate about them. They deserve their status overall.
