This thread doesn't do anything but reinforce the fact that people on /mu/ don't know anything at all about local music. Quit reading pitchfork and go to a house show
I am from Memphis TN which has a decent scene. We have/ had Forrister (formally the Star Killers, which is Julien Baker's old band). There used to be a big crust-punk and hardcore scene here in the late 90s, with bands such as His Hero Is Gone.
I moved to Chattanooga 3 years ago and there isn't much of anything here. A few math rock and emo bands here and in Knoxville, Isaiah Rashad is from Chattanooga and used to have shows around here but now he got pretty big after that last album.
I know some guys that play hardcore and math rock down the road in Murfreesboro.

Overrated as fuck. Just memed on a lot to get tourists to come from America and Scotland.

Ah, well shit. I'm from the States and have been considering going for a few years now
Should I just go to Scotland and Ireland instead? Or the U.K. in general?
>>70448561
Well, Maybe it's not for me to judge but it get's a bit stale after a while. If you haven't experienced fiddling and shit like that you should try it out but it get's a wee bit boring after two drinks.
Also, No. Don't go to the U.K or Scotland for shit like that, You won't find any sort of it. The best place to look for that sort of shit is Saturday bars past 9:00. There will be guaranteed some old chap bringing his fiddle.
By the way, Here's our famous decrepit mining town.
>>70448703
I've been to the Cleveland Irish Festival twice, and the one in Manistee in Michigan just this last year.
I'm into the folk music, fiddle really doesn't matter as much as accapella singing and such.
I wouldn't go to anywhere and expect them to play up an novelty, but I would like to see the landscape, castles, and modern versions.
A public house visit or three would be in order, but its the same as I've been to Quebec at least 10 times now, dont speak french, the citizens generally dont like me because I have a midwest accent. But its cool, I just like to go and observe and was thinking this celtic colors was supposedly one of the bigger of the festivals of this type.
Besides, I love me some dumpy pale white women.
>>70448819
Colours is pretty big considering the size of where it's held, So it's really up to you. Though, It actually get's really pretty here in the fall (Summer is the ugliest season). There's a sort of feel to all of it like Scotland just collided with Idaho up in the Highlands. So I say again, Right up your alley, Right up to you.

Like I said in two other threads in the last 24 hours, Belgium. There's a couple of bars that organise shows in like everything rock-ish in Ghent and there's a bar where there's a local (as in Belgian band) show every Thursday. Most things are noise rock-ish, some punk subgenre deviants as well, sometimes something electronic.
Bands:
>Brutus
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hD0W4QAqfUE
Best band in Belgium in my opinion. They're well on their way to break out. Genre: post-metal with hardcore punk influences. Debut album is coming out in 2 weeks. I'm lucky and am going to their sold out show in the biggest non-stadium concert hall in Belgium.
Kapitan Korsakov:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfK-Q-KdrVE
The noise rock band that started the trend here in Belgium. I don't think their albums sound that well (except this song), but they are fucking killer live.
Raketkanon:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TTk9ZrjQYE
Second band of the singer of the previous band. Better on record at least, haven't seen em live yet.
Teen Creeps:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwzxACa3z0Q
These guys fucking destroy live, recordings are so-so. Post-Hardcore/Emo ish if I had to put a label on em.
Cocaine Piss:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mJ9NAAlbo4
Noise punk. Cool on record, but I had to make the click by seeing them live. Frontwoman is cool as fuck, doesn't give a fuck about the stage.

Are you sick to death of hearing about The Clean?
>>70458184
What is Amazon Rain Forest music?
Is it necessarily bad? Native music can be very good music by itself or it can also help shape very good music, just take Graceland, or Ali Farka Touré or Tinariwen or Songhoy Blues or Clap! Clap!

If you're not a SJW who listens to only the most generic and terrible Punk and Emo music, don't come to Philly. That's literally all it is.

Belém, Manaus retarded sister, just a state far away
>>70460631
It's cool, they just use instruments that the old natives used before and make music with it, of course with modern techniques. The bad part there is not much to search or nothing creative in it, it's kinda patrician to be quite honest. An amazonic version of captain beefhart
