Was Buddy the original punk rocker?
Lots of simple, fast, 3-chord, two-minute rock songs.
Distinctly "white" sounding (as opposed to the black R&B stuff).
If you were to crank his guitar up and play just a bit faster, you'd basically have the Ramones.
I think this is more deserving of the title "proto-punk" than the stuff on Nuggets.

I shouldn't be responding to such boring bait, but no. A lot of rock and roll sounded like Buddy Holly.

>A lot of rock and roll sounded like Buddy Holly.
Such as?
No, the whole point of punk was to try to bring rock back to that 'rock n roll' sound from the 50s and early 60s. Of course Buddy Holly would sound like that, because his style of rock influenced the punks.

The whole point of punk was revolution against what music was supposed to sound like and shock people whilst doing so
Punk was about taking it to an extreme
ITT: OP realizes that there is nothing original or new under the sun.

uhhh maybe hardcore punk and the punk "fashion" established by the Sex Pistols. But original punk was supposed to be back to the basic three chords of rock and roll in a reaction to the over-bloated guitar work that was coming out of the 70s
He looks just like Rivers Cuomo
