>be your average Spotify-browsing normie
>hear of a cool band called "King Crimson"
>search up their most famous album, "In the Court of the Crimson King," on Spotify
>no results
>pirate it
>instead of getting 1 cent per stream, which eventually adds up, Overlord Fripp gets literally nothing
/mu/, why does Fripp not want any of his *snicker* "art" to be streamable by legal means?

Spotify users are too dumb to pirate things
>>70376677
Same reasons that people like Peter Gabriel and Prince don't. Musicians who have already been successful for years and are above a certain age just don't see any incentive to negotiate some terms for what they see as a paltry payout on their music that will hurt album sales (album sales?! lulz). And they don't care about people having access to their music if it means they might not be compensated.

I use spotify and I pirate anything they don't have that I want to hear.
>wanting normies to listen to your music
Albums are a work or art. Piss comes in streams.

Why don't you just pirate things all the time
>>70376808
spotify is more convenient
with spotify I just search for something and immediately start listening
with piracy I have to wait for the album to download/torrent and then listen
it's really about speed/ease of access

Spotify does seem to have almost everything tough.
Tell me some artists of significance that aren't in Spotify.

because certain releases don't really pop up on p2p sharing or torrents when they're released for a couple bucks, i.e. the bandcamp profit model. i bought more albums this year than i have for the past decade and i spent less than 50 dollars over half a year.

With soulseek I almost always have an hour downloaded within 30 min of starting. And I can listen to the album on YouTube or soundcloud while I'm waiting
spotify + slsk + blogspots is the only acceptable combo.
if you dont acquire your music like then then you dont know shit.
normies are a cancer.
