I don't think they're manufactured, the band has gone to lengths to disprove that. Granted when they did hit the mainstream they were handled as if they were.

The tragic thing about it to me is that no band has changed that, I like the Linkin Lads but the way their music is viewed today you'd think it would be easy for a new band to takeover as THE headliner.

Muse definitely not, Coldplay you can argue as being bigger because they're more commercially successful but I think for the most part people can name more Linkin Park songs than they can Coldplay
