I'm not a smart person so I'm hoping you guys will be able to answer. Why are albums being mixed and mastered for cheap earbuds and laptop speakers? Yeah, that's the primary demographic but surely even the top 40 pop singles would want to sound as "clean" as possible on a good system. It's not like it's mastered that way for a specific aesthetic.

>Why are albums being mixed and mastered for cheap earbuds and laptop speakers?
cuz thats what they ppl who buy their records use...
lowest common denominator art
Albums are supposed to sound good on any system
A good system is supposed to make any album sound good
Mixing for one specific type of system is the sign of a bad producer

Mastering is a meme.
That's a thing everyone does. Everyone. Radio Edit and the track recorded on your beloved Record are often mixed differently,
The original version of Aqualung was mixed with bass incredibly high to make it audible in cheap-ass radios.
Anyway, buy CD or vinyl, get a mix that sounds good on a hifi, otherwise spotify can do the trick

That picture is cringey as fuck

What different answer are you looking for, faggot?
The music industry caters to the majority of their audience, that's all there is to it. They don't give a fuck about people with good systems, because they make their money from mp3s and streaming.
This also only really applies to Top 40

And that's where the large percentage of profit comes from.
