This is the coldstoned objective answer. There is no reason for discussion, i'm not sure why people continued to comment after this.
Might as well just delete the post.

>not understanding the concept of being able to listen to both the music and the lyrics
>>70306802
You can't listen to music. You can hear it, but it takes an understanding of music to "listen" properly.
People who posted someone other than Joanna Newsom: did you forget Joanna Newsom exists?
>>70306833
why do you assume i have no understanding of music? don't get autismo with me my dude.
>>70306833
I agree with this. I am well studied in music and practice it myself but my autism or something keeps from understanding the lyrics. Words become my own interpretation and I treat vocals as any other instrument. I interpret the feeling more than the actual words that would come out of some retard junkie thinking he is a poet.

Sleet tight, Tommer

Good choice, OP, but Thom is one of my all time favorites. His lyrics and performance in AMSP were some of the deepest, saddest and greatest of his entire career.
I don't think you'll agree with me, and you might even say is edgy stuff for art school dropouts, but I do enjoy Jenny's lyrics more than any other artist of this century (that hasn't been relevant before the 2000's).
Oh, Jesus
That night, I watched people fucking on my computer
Nobody can see me looking anyway
It's late
And everything turns into a kind of dirty
My skin starts breaking with LCD
I feel desire
One I don't know, one I don't own
I'm free
I turn off the light and dress myself in silver and gold
I go out unto the edge of the city
Tread on my twigs that are not yet burning
The weight of my boots makes them break
And smoke comes out of be-be-be-ne-ne-neath the ba-ba-bark
Sufjan is another choice for me
Kid Cudi. Not even joking

This is my choice but there are others out there that are good picks
Hindered by sober restlessness
Submitting to the amber crutch.
The theme in my aching prose.
Fantasizing the sight of Manhattan;
That pour of a bitter red being that escapes a thin frame
The rebirth of mutual love
The slipping on gloves to lay tenderly
"I'm dying."
- "Is it blissful?"
"It's like a dream."
- "I want to dream."

>why do you assume i have no understanding of music?
Because you've never studied music. Pretty simple concept, I thought.

Trips of truth.
I don't think I'm on the spectrum personally, but if I have to look at the lyrics in a video, or like have the lyrics in front of me, that song, no matter what it is, instantly becomes the biggest cringe-fest ever.

Agree with this so much. Joanna is smarter with the use of words in her lyrics, but Jenny Hval's is so much more visceral to me. I'd like her to branch out (for at least one album) from singing about dicks and clit.
>>70307418
I'd just like her*

Unironically GOAT. Even MMLP2 was a masterpiece.
