What do you think the best Zappa album is?
My vote goes to Joe's Garage.
One Size Fits All.
>the crux of the biscuit
>is the Apostrophe

too many good ones tbqh. can't decide on a best
>>70296542
I'd have to agree. I always come back to Joe's Garage.
We're Only In It For The Money, Sheik Yerbouti, and You Are What You Is are also god-tier. Hell, his entire discography is if you can get into the weirder stuff.
>>70296542
Other favorites are: Freak Out!, One Size Fits All, Hot Rats, Joe's Garage, The Grand Wazoo, etc. There are too many good albums, especially from the 70s.
Hot Rats, Chunga's Revenge, Apostrophe, Sheik Yerbouti, Joe's Garage
Weasles Ripped my Flesh is one of my favorites. The experimentation of most of the songs on that album are sublime.

I like Just Another Band from LA as well
Uncle Meat. Burnt Weeny, Hot Rats, and Grand Wazoo come close tho.
>>70296542
We're Only In It For The Money, Uncle Meat, Absolutely Free, Hot Rats.
the one with the funny time signatures and poop jokes

/mu/ is here, abandon ship

Joe's Garage has the widest range of Zappa's music stylings I think. You've got the goofy humor songs, the guitar solos, the depressing cynicism, and the whole thing of course is very orchestral in composition.
The Grand Wazoo
Hot Rats
Chunga's Revenge
Apostrophe (')
One Size Fits All
Zappa in New York
Sheik Yerbouti
Joe's Garage

step aside plebs, patrician coming through
Roxy by Proxy is underrated as fuck
Absolutely free is a flawless album
No doubt in my mind Apostrophe is the apex
>>70299960
i'd really like to see an orchestral take on this album
I like his improv heavy stuff the most, so studio albums I guess I do enjoy Uncle Meat and Hot Rats the most. But it really comes out the best in live works like Roxy & Elsewhere.
How to get into Frank Zappa?
i don't think i've ever heard him and he has a massive discography
where to start?

there's a flowchart thats pretty on point. I don't have it, but I'll bump in hope someone who does have it can post
Apostrophe is a good starting point though

thanks lads
>>70301792
Pick one of his "essential" albums at random and see if you like it. That's what I did and it paid off.

>>70302587

>>70302630

>>70301440

my top three are
joes garage
absolutely free
sleep dirt.
still need to finish out his 80s albums though.
Does Zappa have the comfiest discography ever? Even his lesser efforts are fun to listen to.
