Deftones might have contributed to what became the rapmetal/numetal in the late 90's, early 2000's, but they are hardly nu metal beyond their second album.

But yeah, Deftones is pretty good.

To bad most of these bands never got to evolve in a good direction. They were caught up to early as the next hot shit and ended up as a washed out versions of themselves, bathed in fame, MTV and money.

even if u don't consider white pony nu metal they still released at least 2 nu metal albums vastly better than anything in the genre
